A/N : Marissa just turned sixteen and has gone through rough times enough and you'll have to see what happens...
The pain rushes through my head as I'm slammed against against the door. My dad chooses to abuse me if all I do is talk back. It's not my fault he's a drunk loser. He says I deserve better but he's wrong. I don't want better. I'm not an emo or anything but I wish I could just escape or disappear sometimes. I can get any guy I want but it's not enough. Each guy takes me for some random slut. I want a guy to protect me and let me run into his arms to make everything right. Though it's not enough where I come from to dream. Nothing comes true when you wish it here. We're hardcore, you don't see any preps skipping around here going to the mall. You see fights, and shootings. Chino.
I see my dad leave the room and I run to mine. I pack some clothes in a bag and jump out the window. I can't take any more of him. He's ruined my life. My mom left us because of him and he's already kicked my sister out of the house that I occasionally visit. The only place I can think of to go to is his. My best friend since kindergarten. Things were so much better back then. We had my mother around who could actually support us through everything. We were the richest family considering nobody has real money around here. Now that I think of it, I don't have any money. What was I thinking? I'll go to his house, and borrow some money from my sister. Then I'll try and get a job.
I run to his house and through a rock at his window. He opens his window and whispers loudly.
" What is it Marissa? " he asks.
" Luke, do you think I can spend just one more night here? " I ask sadly, knowing I'm going somewhere away from here, but not wanting to go through the pain of saying goodbye to him.
" Yeah, come in. " he says.
I hop in through the window and get myself settled on the floor. I have no feelings for Luke. We tried dating but it was just too weird and we knew if we broke up that we wouldn't survive having one another as friends.
" So, what happened tonight? " Luke asked me politely.
" I just couldn't take it anymore how he keeps attacking me and all the alcohol, I just had to get out of the house. " I replied, now feeling sad.
Luke noticed my depression and quickly changed the subject. " So, um... what's with the bag? " he asked.
" Oh, um... I'm just gonna give him some time to cool off and stay at some friend's houses for a while. " I lie.
He nods and turns off the light. " Night. " he says simply.
" Good night. " I say back and with that I fall asleep later.

The next morning I wake and my back is incredibly sore from last night and I turn and find that Luke is still asleep. I write a quick note to him :
Luke,
I know you should've been expecting this from me a while ago. I chose to run away. I thought it would be too hard to say good-bye to you so I chose to write this letter. Thank you for always being there for me and letting me stay the night. It's too bad things never worked out between us but I want you to do me a favor. Find the best girl you can. You deserve it. I love you and always will. You're my best friend and hopefully I'll see you soon again. I'll never forget you.
Love,
Marissa
I hope he doesn't hate me after just leaving him with a note but I have to leave this town, I can't do this anymore. This is not home. I begin my walk to my sister's house but stop at a store before I leave. I don't have that many cigarettes left and I really need a drink at this point. This store never bothers to check for an ID so I'm safe. I walk into the store and grab a bottle of vodka and a pack of cigarettes to bring to the counter. I hand the man some money. Luckily I had been a baby-sitter for a while so I had some money, but those were my last dollars.
I walk out of the store and begin to walk to my sister's house again. I don't know what her reaction will be when I tell her but I guess I'll find out. Will she be disappointed? Will she be welcoming?
********************************************
I finally arrive to my sister's house. This place is almost as bad as my dad's house. I walk up to the door and knock very lightly but she immediately answers. She looks really crappy. I have to admit she does. She has a black eye and cuts everywhere on her arms that are exposed because of the tank top she's wearing.
" Marissa. " she says and looks at me like she's going to pass out.
" Hey Annette. " I reply. She stares down at my bag and gets why I'm here.
" Come on in. " she says.
" Thanks. " I say and walk into the house.
So I've never written anything like this. Reviews would be helpful and if you don't like that's fine just be honest plz so I know that I'm not wasting my time!
