So I'm watching a show on HGTV and they're focusing on "green" design and making a big deal about how this family has made some "green" changes on their own. Their changes? Recycling, replacing lightbulbs with CFLs, and adding insulation. The show is doing "green" things which included VOC free paint, bamboo flooring, installing a ceiling fan, using natural fibers and using antiques. The point of all this? These are all sorts of things that I consider to be normal, and not anything special. If anything, these are ways to be economical, by saving energy, and spending less money overall (except maybe the VOC free paint). It's strange to see the things I do normally heralded as something special.
