[He turned to face her.]
Out for a stroll or something, missy? You don't look like the fishin' type.

[She peers at him a little curiously.]

When you live in a small town like this for so long, any new face stands out.
And...'critters'? What do you mean? I was sure that there weren't any real monsters in the area....

I wouldn't be so sure of that if I was you. Just the other day I met a very irritable wolf. It talked to me.

She isn't as hostile as some, most of the time, but as you might have guessed, she really doesn't like humans.

I kind of figured that much, since she was givin' me the stank eye the entire time I was hanging out here. I hope she's the only uptight critter around here.

...I did meet a really unfriendly girl at the forest's edge before, but I didn't get her name. I don't even know if she's still here.

[Hoisting the fish out of the water took some effort, but he managed to get it on to shore with relative ease. Rygdea was just about to reach for his knife to carve it open until he swore he heard the fish murmur something.]
