[In reference to the aegyo]
Also, as a Wook stan, how can you even put this down as one thing that you don't like about Min? Saying Min goes overboard with the aegyo is like the pot calling the kettle black.
This could be personal preference, but I don't find Sungmin cute. When others refer to photos/videos whatev saying how cute he is, I think it's all too much. I'm convinced there's a certain fakeness to a lot of the 'cute' things he does, aegyo or not. Ryeowook has a ridiculous amount of natural cuteness, we all know this. Sure he pulls aegyo out and it's not cute, I don't go for it but what I do love is when he's just staring in to space and pulling faces or twirling his fluffy pens around. If that's what Min did I could never complain, but that isn't what he does.
[Min on shows]
He can't be himself because if he were to be himself, he'd just stand there like a rock and not say anything
Fair enough. He can't be himself and his fake self isn't what people want, that's something he needs to figure out. But I don't think I can be blamed for not liking the way he works at the moment, it does need improvement from him.
Again: Ryeowook's been trying too hard at varieties lately too, and his reactions are also cringeworthy.
I don't think comparing Sungmin and Ryeowook is ok...they are not the mirror images of each other that people say they are. As cringeworthy as Ryeowook's reactions can be, I give you that I really do lol, there is such an obvious amount of effort there. Bless his tiny cotton socks, there's nothing contrived in what he does (with Min it is), he isn't putting forward any kind of 'character'; he's being himself and awkward as he may get, he's ENDEARING. I think that's one of his greatest assets and it's something Min doesn't have.
For me anyway.
[On Min being lazy - possibly a bad word choice]
Min was selected to be a part of SM because he was pretty, not because he could sing or because he could dance. In fact, he said so himself on Sukira; he had never, ever danecd before he got into SM. But now, he's confidently the 4th best singer and the 4th best dancer in a group of 9 or 10.
So we're of opposing opinion when it comes to Sungmin having natural talent. I think he has lots of natural talent. You said it yourself, he had never danced before and look at him now! Ok he's not Eunhyuk, no one is, but he's great! I think you'd say he worked his ass off to become that good, I think he had a natural ability which helped him along. Because I think that, hopefully you can see why it would be frustrating to know he doesn't think he's up there in terms of skill.
He could be trying his very best, but he's always so overshadowed by the members who are exceptional that he can't shine
Again, it's the natural talent issue. You think he hasn't got any and so you think he's at a disadvantage to those, KRY, who do. Kyuhyun and Ryeowook started off very very strongly, they were amazing from day one. But they didn't have the training Sungmin had, they're younger than him I mean their early day parts sound so pre-pubescent xD Sungmin started with a very nice voice, it was strong and so unique and it was as good as KW and it was an advantage! Which I wanted him to keep. But he didn't.
And while I said Wook shouldn't be used as a comparison, it is worth noting that he was completely ignored from Don't Don to Mr Simple. Near enough non-existant he was that over-shadowed. But he was the first one I noticed out of a group of 10, and now he's one who shines the most. He's proof of what a little change in attitude, change in effort, style, whatever you want to call it, can do.
Idk man I don't want to keep going through your response, you had a lot of valid points but I think I do too.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Min, I'm just...puzzled as to his lack of confidence. It's all he needs.
