So I saw Kris Allen last night. At around 6:30, my dad and I entered the park and went to go buy our tickets to get in. It was crazy hot last night. Then we stumbled across the merch table and I bought myself the pink elephant shirt and the guitar pick key chain. My dad figured that since the tickets earlier were free and not good seats, he'd buy VIP tickets, which put us at 3rd row.
A few minutes after we got to our seats, my dad left me to go buy towels to keep us from being soaked with sweat. A lady came and sat next to me and we began to talk about Kradam and tinhatting and how she had seen Kris play two nights before. She was very nice and I was glad I had someone to talk to while we waited for Kris to come on stage. I didn't get her name, though. :(
When my dad came back, the lady and I were kind of listening to the opening band and more talking about Kradam. I felt so bad for the opening band because they were from Wisconsin and had never played in Texas heat.
While the band was moving off stage and the roadies came on to get Kris and his band's instruments set, the lady and I saw Katy and Kim Allen walking around the side area of the venue, close to where we were sitting. We saw a few people walk up to them and ask for pictures, so we got up and went to talk to them. I (very shyly) asked Katy if I could get a picture with her and she was so sweet about it.
We quickly got back to our seats when we saw security walking toward all of us. When we sat down, just a couple minutes after, Kris came on stage. They opened with Can't Stay Away and I was jumping around and taking (blurry) pictures, but it was amazing. Every time any one tried to get closer, the security people ushered us back to our seats. After finishing the first song, Kris asked if we had had fun riding the roller coasters and everyone said no and he was like "How do you not have fun riding rides at Six Flags?" It was cute and seriously, Kris Allen, seriously.
A guy yelled "I love you, Kris!" between songs, and Kris heard and said how it was awesome when guys told him they loved him, and it didn't happen a lot. Immediately after saying that, he was like "Oh that's going to end up on Youtube."
Kris did a few more songs, including the Heartless mash-up, Lifetime (for his dad!), The Truth, Is It Over, Red Guitar, and Alright With Me. During Alright With Me, he had five girls come up on stage in the middle to help with the 'yeah's. He was very jumpy and the kicky feet were on over drive or something. He was very energetic.
During another break between songs, a few of us screamed "Happy early birthday" and he said thanks and then we all started singing it to him. It was awesome. I tried to record it, but the security people were watching us like hawks and making sure we weren't taking video.
Then Kris did Man in the Mirror, and then Live Like We're Dying. We all had to sing the chorus of MITM and wow, I blew out my voice from all the screaming and yelling.
He threw out a pick and left the stage and a few people started to leave, but then Kris came back out and started the Falling Slowly/With or Without You mash-up and then he ended with Come Together. During the last song, all of us were rushing up against the barricades and trying to touch Kris when he came by. I was squished up against two girls who touched Kris and were yelling about how they were being crushed. I maybe told them to get the fuck out of the way then, since they'd been touched. But alas, I ended up only being three inches from Kris's fingers.
Kris threw the rest of his picks and a few set lists into the crowd, but I couldn't catch them. He has a good arm.
On our way walking out, I saw Daniel Allen and a few girls around him asking for pictures, so I also asked for a picture. I was all gross and sweaty and hot and when he put his hand on my back I apologized for how soaked I was. But he was nice about it. He gave me a high five after. :D
(Please ignore how gross I look)
It was a kick ass night. :D
