“Are you sure about this?” Kris asks for the tenth time, looking to the older man with pleading puppy dog eyes. “Yeah. Besides, it’s too late to back out now.” Adam tells him, rolling his baby blue eyes. Kris emits a whine from the back of his throat and mutters something about being unfair. He takes a few baby steps, then grabs Adam’s forearm in a death grip. “Kris, it’s roller skating. Chill. The fuck. Out.”
Kris loosens his grip on Adam and settles for lacing their fingers together. “I know. I’m just very…uncoordinated. Wheels don’t really help.” Adam throws his head back and laughs. Kris stares at the expanse of skin from the neckline of Adam’s red shirt all the way up to his chin. He stares until Adam pulls his hand from Kris’ and skates to the center of the rink. Kris pouts when Adam holds his hands in front of him and says, “Skate to me and I’ll hold your hand for the rest of the night.”
Kris lets go of the wall and starts to make his way toward the taller man, cringing as someone zooms passed him. They make it look so easy, Kris thinks. When he’s about a foot away from Adam, he reaches out to grab the older man’s hands, but nearly falls on his face when Adam moves a few more feet away. “Not fair!” Kris yells. Adam laughs again and circles around Kris.
He stops behind him and puts his hands on Kris’ waist. Kris relaxes a little under the touch, but crosses his arms stubbornly. “Aw, Krissy. I was just having some fun…” Kris unfolds his arms and turns to lean against Adam, holding their bodies close together. Adam breathes in Kris’ scent, inhaling deeply. His head jerks up though, when a certain song comes on over the intercom.
“Oh, dude! I love this song!” He takes Kris’ hand and pulls them both to the middle of the rink. Kris laughs as Adam shakes his ass the whole way to their destination. Adam spins in a circle, releasing Kris’s hand. The main lights turn off as the disco balls come down and the multi-color lights begin to flash. “Play that funky music, white boy!” Adam belts out, tossing his recently re-dyed hair and skating around like mad. Kris was lost in the moment and didn’t protest or complain as Adam took his hand again and began to skate with him.
The song had changed, but Adam was still swaying to the music and Kris was still mesmerized by the taller man’s beauty. Adam slowed his skating and smiled at Kris, pulling him out of his trance. “What are you smilin’ about?” Adam’s smile widened significantly, “You’re doing it! You’re skating!” He clapped his hands. It was then that Kris realized what Adam had said and that their hands were no longer connected. Adam came to a complete stop as Kris said, “Yeah. I guess I am.” Kris continued to skate toward Adam, pushing him back until he hit the wall with a soft thud. The younger man pushed their bodies together and craned his head up as Adam leaned down. “And it’s all thanks to you.” Their eyes closed and their lips met.
