Birmingham was an experience.
It was definitely not the best show ever. customer traffic seemed to stop dead at 2 pm the first day and failed to pick up the rest of the weekend. Jonathan ross does not really draw the crowds to the selling floor. and certainly doesn't care for the small press comics scene.
The building was very odd and the show kinda tricky to find, badly signposted and spread across two rooms that werent really connected, seeing as they had a science museum jammed between them. the general buzz from people at the end of the show and the days since seems to be that it was a bit of a bust. I'm not sure i'll be bothering with this one again next year. maybe if i have a place to stay, because overall this one cost me about 200 quid between printing, bus ride, hostel, food, drinks. made back 117 or so quid, which would be great if i was in london, so lets hope that works out for MCM.
Actually, if the sunday hadnt been so dead, I might have scraped just enough to get back to costs. hm.
But i did have fun, I acquired some nostalgic items and I met Nigel Dobbyn whose Knuckles strips I grew up reading in Sonic the Comic. He's got a DA page and everything:

Also attempting a Ewan 24 hour comic on sunday...
