Leeds and Thought Bubble, this post will make me look like a dick. I am sorry. it was a weird 3 days

Thought bubble was one of THOSE conventions.

I can sum it up like this:

And also like this:

That guy there might be what made the folks over at Banal Pig Comics look like completely miserable fuckers the whole day. i wouldn't blame them.

This was me at the start of the day anyway:

I was not in a good mood myself. john, my table buddy

reckons i wasnt chirpy enough with the crowd and that's why i didnt sell much. it seemed a lot of the crowd were far more interested in getting to go out dressed up in weird outfits than they were in buying small press comics.

I'm sorry.

I have to do this again.

This man is dressed as a twelve year old ninja whose amazing power in the japanese cartoon "Naruto" seemed to be having broken hands for a long time. There were quite a few people who looked to be in their thirties dressed as characters from this show. I was ACTUALLY alarmed. i mean i've been to other bigger shows where people dress up, but I've not seen crap like this. this is the unintentionally funny crap, not like manfaye and so on.

oh lord.

anyway, like I say, I did not sell much and it was a strange day. I didn't even buy anything. I normally buy something or other.

The nicest people were the ones who hadnt been to many or even any comic conventions before. they were more talkative and interested in the smaller stalls. I managed to shift wuite a bit of stuff later in the day, when I cheered up a little bit.

This is what the table looked like most of the day:

They actually had waiters to bring us tea (we did have to pay). but we kept the cups in a totem pole cos it added some flavour to my side, barren as it was compared to John's. Dude had a severed arm on there for chrissakes. how can I compete with that! There was an after party I didnt go to, sorta wish i had but other stuff needed doing and I was proper shattered. It was nice to see the usual crowd about and liz greenfield ( http://stuffsucks.com/ ) said that the author of Potato smiles was very happy about my comic-ish version of it http://www.gronkcomics.com/comics/potatosmiles1.html

Which is AWESOME.

leeds has some nice buildings by the way, expect a follow up post.
