Yes it seems I am not dead. Apologies for my absence with posts, replies and what not. RL does tend to get in the way and I'm trying at an awful game of 'Ketchup', though I admit I'm failing. I have missed a few posts and have been scrambling to keep up. It's not that I'm being a snob, nor am I disinterested (I love reading everyone's RL ramblings

Actually I havent read last week's review or replies yet. Though from what I hear Taylor ultimately dragged Ryan into backing his dad for some Julie love? I'm not impressed with that. I know they have to wrap the whole Ryan & Frank thing up quickly since there's no time. But all of a sudden he's fine with his dad and their past and wants him to marry his ex girlfriends mother? Wife & Child Beater be damned!?! As it is I quite like Bullitt and his and Kaitlin's scenes are actually good. I'm barracking for Bullitt (sadly I know who 'wins') so I'm rather pissed that it seems Taylor has dragged Ryan into this stupid Tug-O-War where I'm not going for Ryan's 'Team'. (then again I haven't seen it nor read Chaz's indepth recap yet so it may not be as bad as I'm led to believe)
You know how I feel, I'm with you all the way. It's always been all about Ryan, along with some good old family Cohens+1. It has unfortunately become the T.T show but I'm not too surprised as Josh did this Season 2 and especially 3, he loves to focus on the girlfriends.
And you know how I feel about Taylor & RT. She's just too OTT and I can't connect. She may have a bit more depth to her these days but she's still too out there and her and the relationship dramas she brings, belong in a sitcom. She's great in small doses but she seems to be getting more screentime and scenes then half the originals (and don't get me started on how she's treated Ryan recently)! Which leads me to the other OTT character, Che. I know it's all for comedy, I didn't mind the initial stuff too much but these days his antics are overdone and plain annoying. Yet he's taken over half the episodes!
Really? I thought 88 Minutes had already aired in the states since a guy I get movies from, is selling a copy on DVD? So it hasn't really finished post-production?

I thought last week's messpisode was just a complete undermining of what made Ryan who he is, what cemented any bond with Cohens, what drove any of the family dynamics we've witnessed evolving and what fueled the entire premise from the outset. On top of that, it trivialized very serious issues that are anything but comedic and minimized the newly defined relationship between Ryan and Sandy as if "The My Two Dads" never happened. If Josh wanted frivolous fun, this wasn't the story and these weren't the characters for it. Anything involving Ryan and Frank should be between them and maybe between Sandy. We know Kirsten really has no emotional investment in the dynamic, as she's demonstrated. If they wanted to "wrap up" Ryan's issues with his father, they should have started three or four episodes ago and kept it between family. T.T. should have been reduced to an uninvolved supporting role and I could care less about Julie's love life in the scheme of things. If Josh wanted to waste time there, he could have brought Frank Smith or any other character in vs. the Bullet. Grrrrrrrr.
My feelings re: T.T. haven't made me any new friends, so I've tried to keep those more quiet. I hate to see the same mistakes made- and at the price of now no resolution for core, original relationships within the family between the main characters. Rather than examining Ryan's issues, this has become about Taylor broadcasting her own and trivializing his in a very disrespectful way IMHO.
Che? Don't even get me started. He's gone now. If he had been long gone by "The Summer Bummer" and we never had the T.T. and H.M. show, we could have had some real Cohen/Atwood interaction and watched the integral dynamics progress. Instead, Taylor has had more scenes with Kirsten than Ryan or the Cohens and Che more with Seth for Che/Seth time, not Seth/Ryan time. And Sandy has gone from talking to Ryan about Ryan to only talking about Taylor? We're going the wrong way. So many reminders of why Josh & Co. were the wrong ones to have this concept and this (now) incredible cast. In the hands of someone more capable, invested, mature...? The actors have to be so disappointed at the wasted potential and opportunities they could never bring to life.
"88 Minutes" was released in Brazil and I know that it was then online, but I had read that the director was in New Zealand and hadn't completed his final edits yet. Who knows? The consensus is that Ben did very well in what we saw, but his character wasn't developed- or we didn't see it. Much more could have been written to incorporate the character into the story with more substance. Great energy between Ben and Pacino. Did you see the links in the posts in Ben support a couple of weeks ago?

So for now I'll leave it but just know, I'm on the same wavelength. You know my feelings on the misuse of important characters ala Ryan, and trivial two part charcters that should stay in their support roles!
As for the Taylor issue, well you full well know how I feel about her. I zip my lip at times to keep the peace but you needn't hide those feelings, I've never known not one fan to not love your indepth take on it all. Deep down most of the original Ben flist still ultimately care for Ryan and only like Taylor as a byproduct. As it is I haven't really been to any boards in regards to The O.C this season but recently I visited TWOP and found that there is growing backlash against her freaky OTTSness, and the Marissa-ing of her character. We aren't the only ones (which is comforting to know).
And upon visting those boards... Seems like I'll love the most recent ep with what, uncharcterisic Ryan and plenty of Taylor once more!?!
Anyway must be getting ready to pack, clean up and what not. See ya!

As for our minds, they work alike on all of the above.
You know we can always pick this up later.
Bon voyage!
