Dinos

I went to the museum last night for the dinosaur exhibit. The dinosaur robots were really neat, however, the actual exhibit was horrible. The kids that were there didn't seem to mind, but it wasn't too amazing an exhibit for grown-ups. They just took the robots (which were on loan) and displayed them in completely plain environments. Plain walls, plain floors, instead of making them look like they were in a real environment.

Actually, I take that back - the theme was "just imagine" and it was done in the fashion that a child would imagine what real dinosaurs would be like. So the room was decorated like a playroom. Walls had construction paper, etc...Other than that, it was really plain. It was still a fun night. the robots themselves were cool.

The BEST part of the night was actually going to the Gaslight Village exhibit (that I have been in a MILLION times before) but this time - because it was a busy night - they had one of the shops unlocked (normally you can't go in any of the rooms.) and an older gentleman who is a volunteer was there and operating the old foot-pump action letter press machine! And he was making 2-color bookmarks with hand-typeset movable type. He was such a nice man, I was talking with him for about 20 minutes. That part was so cool, it made my night. I'll post pics of the bookmarks later. They even had a picture of a ryceratops on them from an old lithocut block.
