Axis and Allies

4 hours of this night were spent playing Axis and Allies in the basement of Satterlee.

Here's the break down of what's going on, maybe halfway through the game...

Allies
Ryan = United States
Ken = United Kingdom
Crystal = Russia

Axis
Kyle = Germany
Brenna = Japan

After the largest battle of the war in which Kyle (Germany) failed to take Russia from Crystal, Germany was crippled. Fighting a two front war with increasing British pressure and introduction of American pressure to the west and substantial relentless Russian pressure to the east, Germany is caught in a hard place, reverting to an almost completely defensive stance. Germany lacks any naval power. The United Kingdom maintains a fleet of 3 transports in the Atlantic. The United States maintains a fleet consisting of 1 transport and 1 submarine escort in the Atlantic, 1 battleship in the Indian Ocean, and 2 transports, 2 submarines, and 1 aircraft carrier in the Pacific. The Japanese navy as well as Germany sea power in the Pacific was been crushed by the US naval presence. The United States, having backed its sea power with air power in the form of carrier born fighters and two bombers have begun the long task of Pacific island hopping. Japan's forces on the Asian continent have begun to feel an increasing pressure from Russian forces. Finally the United States has begun the blitz of the African continent to liberate the states to British rule once more.

With the oceans free to allied movement, and increase pressures on both Germany and Japan for fighting a two front war, there is little hope for the Axis as the war machine of the US, UK and Russia prepare to crush the capitals of Germany and Japan.

So, after 4 hours of play, that's where we stand. Pretty damn exciting for a board game if you ask me...perfect late night before a lacrosse game Saturday.
