I
Sentously churning several layers - thick to thin.
Thinking like a man who's chosen pride over zen.
He scattered leaflets, shown in black ink, the slogan
'equality and human'.

II
Lives lived for love shimmer like peppered snow
on the sidewalk stamped by rough boots-
Row houses stammer smartly up the dinnertime street-
Their roofs, now in disrepair, an effort seemingly too great.

III
Through the blue stained glass, a rooftop weeper.
Mother, woman, and worker, arms like clubs.
Shadows hide her eyes. The child awake inside.
Black, the chimney smoke - consuming combustibles
to chase away crisp cold. The old world sleeps.
