The worst feeling is when you approach an end to a season of a TV show on DVD. Knowing this is the final episode you are watching, and it will be months before you will see another is very agonizing. I find myself thinking: The second season of MacGyver hasn't even been announced yet! It's going to be several months before I will see Richard Dean Anderson in action again.

That is a very good topic for a post. The awesomeness of MacGyver.

Now, I know what everyone who is not familiar with the show is thinking. "He makes a bomb out of gum and a toothpick" Oh ha ha. Very stereotypical point of view on the show. The show itself implores the use of science instead of violence, and the humanity in all of us.

I do not intend this to be a review of the series, but it may turn in to that.

Surprisingly to me, I just found out MacGyver ran successfully for seven seasons, even his Mullett survived. Not every episode was him making bombs out of common items found in your pocket. A lot of the things he did was common sense, and just taking advantage of his surroundings, with a interesting perspective. He could size up a situation instantly, and use everything in the environment to his advantage. He was a master at diversions. Leave a small explosion timed with a natural element such as melting ice, then when the sparks fly he has done what planned to do without the bad guys having a clue.

Incidentally, I have started carrying my Swiss Army Knife, and a roll of Duct Tape wherever I go.

It's also great to see the villains MacGyver encounters. In the final episode of season one, we meet an assassin, who is basically an evil MacGyver. He has all sorts of goodies stashed in his room, such as Explosive Toothpaste, Plastic Explosive Watch, an arsenal of weapons stored on him, along with poison tipped needles hidded under scars in his skin, and a metal clip used to pick locks in his fake mustache. Although this villian was very entertaining, MacGyver did not get a good chance to go mono y mono with him, and he was killed at the end of the episode. My favorite villain will always be Murdock. This guy is pretty much an evil genius, who is foiled by MacGyver every time. He sets up elaborate traps for Mac, lures him in, but he always manages to escape. Then, at the end of every episode with him in it, he is usually falling to his supposed death, screaming "MACGYVERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!". He always manages to reappear in episodes though, with another clever scheme to kill MacGyver.

It's such a great show, and I cannot wait until the next seasons come out on DVD. Every since the release of DVDs, I have been waiting for this series to finally make a comeback. I am so glad that it is and hope to see the trend continue with the other classic shows that I love.
