Trip To New York

Mar 04, 2007 15:36

So I haven't posted in MONTHS. I realize this.

But just a quick update: I went to NYC yesterday for the day, I will be going next weekend again for an entire week (staying with Katie Terza), but I went and saw two shows yesterday.

I caught a matinee of Spring Awakening for 25 dollars which I loved as always. And at 8 I saw Mary Poppins.

Well. Mary Poppins you say? Why?

Hands down. Probably the best show I've ever seen done on Broadway. This show is not about the performers, as no disney shows are, but this show delivers unlike any other disney show I've seen. The theatricality in this show was just magnificent, and the special effects are like none I've ever seen before. From the second I sat down and the curtain went up, I felt like I was in an alternate universe. It was just that wonderful and magical.

To any person out there, I would recommend seeing this.

OH. Step in Time was an absolute show stopper. The version in the movie is fabulous, but seeing it live was just amazing. I won't spoil anything from the show, except in saying that Step in Time is just one huge tap number.

After last night I was reminded what the theatre is all about. If at any time I ever forgot what I was doing this for, this show reminded me 10 fold.

Most Entertaining and enjoyable show I've ever seen. The entire 2 hours and 45 minutes felt like it was only an hour and a half and I can honestly say I wanted more.

Next week I'm seeing Company, A Chorus Line, and Les Mis for sure (I bought my tix for company already), and Curtains, and/or Jersey Boys. Also, because of how much I see Teddy talk about Grey Gardens on here, I might give that a shot as well =)
