What is the recipe for your scar helping lotion?

The surgical strips are starting to fall off and I'd like to minimize the scars from the surgical cuts and staples.

Just as another possibility... xythen March 6 2008, 05:37:59 UTC
Sorry to butt in here... companies like Curad and Bandaid have actual scar strips that really do fade scars faster in addition to the cream called mederma. They're all OTC now.

I've have a lot of scars and these things have helped alot!

My surgeon especially recommended Mederma.

Cool, thanks for the tips, I'll look for those things.

I'm mostly concerned about the long scar down the front of my bicep, the ones on the shoulder are small and could be hidden with a t-shirt, but the long one on the bicep could be pretty ugly and visible.

No way man. That's one of the most awesome scars I've ever seen. And it's not like it's in a place that is going to draw attention unless you want it to.

True. I was thinking if worst comes to worst maybe I'll get a tattoo that incorporates those scars as part of the design.

Thanks, I think. ;-)

I don't know about it not drawing attention though, it's right down the front of my arm. In long sleeve shirts and baggy t-shirts it'll totally be hidden, but if I wear a tank top or baby-doll T I think it could end up being very visible.

I pierce a vitamin e capsule and just rub it on. the oil is purer than what they put in topical oils. saved me from a nasty scar when i burned myself once on a commercial clothes press.

I've heard that can work well. I'll give it a try.
Someone pointed out to me that the host of Top Chef, a woman who's also a model, has a big old scar down her arm that doesn't look a whole lot different that what mine look like currently. I suspect mine will heal up looking not quite so obvious as hers, but it's good to know there are pretty people out there with similar looking marks.
