Democratic Caucus This Saturday, the 9th!

Feb 06, 2008 13:38

If you want your vote to count, and you're voting democrat, you have to caucus!

I know a lot of you read king_amygdala's livejournal, so this is for those that don't.

If you want a voice in which candidate gets picked for the Democratic party nomination you have to caucus this Saturday at 1pm. It doesn't appear to be like a primary or a regular election when you can drop in any time you feel like it, or is convenient for you. You have to be there no later than 1:30pm to participate or you're pretty much SOL as far as I can tell.

The Democratic party isn't going to pay any attention to the primary results on the 19th, so voting in the primary is a waste of time, unless you're voting Republican, they at least get a choice of caucusing or voting in the primary. (As far as I can tell the WA state Democratic party is a bunch of whiney wankers who're upset that they weren't included in the vote for the primary, so they aren't playing. Waaaa.)

It's nice that the nomination isn't a foregone conclusion at this point and that our voice matters this time.

Here's a good video on what to expect on Saturday.
