I'm curious how you found my LJ and why you chose to add me to your friends list.

I've looked at your profile and you look like an interesting person, but it looks like you've got a whole pile of friends, or at least people you've added as friends... what's up?

Some people go around serially adding anyone they can in the hopes they will be added back. It's a strategic (though impersonal) way to build an audience. They won't actually be reading the 900 people on thier friendslist, and they'll delete the ones who do not add back eventually and then try adding new people. This marketing strategy is effective on all those who find being added by strangers a great compliment. It's not at all personal.

I wasn't thinking it was personal when I saw he's an author and added 600+ people. I guess I don't really see the point in adding people willy-nilly, but then again I don't need attention that badly marketing strategy or no.
