Eos is a mostly outdoor cat - he comes in, he eats, he gets pet, he sprawls out on the couch in bizarre poses, and then he goes back out.
He never disappears, though. He comes back every day. Every single day.
I haven't seen him since Friday.
We live in a low traffic area, so a car is unlikely, as is an animal shelter, as the closest is two towns over. There are three scenarios I can think of, in declining order of likelihood:
1. As this is the season where foxes and other predators resume hunting, he has been eaten.
2. He got himself lost in the words and/or just decided not to come back.
3. He has been adopted by somebody else.
I dearly, dearly hope that it is option three, or even option two - he'd be okay as a feral cat, he's smart, he's a good hunter.
. . I've lost a lot of cats. It's been six years since I lost a cat, but I've lost a lot of cats.
Terra, his mother and hunting buddy hasn't been doing much lately, just moping around the house or porch.
I miss him, and yes, I've already consigned myself to the reality that I probably will not see him again.
