I haven't had much to say lately, so I haven't been posting, and also, I've really not felt like rattling on about fiction and my insignificant life when far more important things are happening in this world, but I also have not wanted to discuss said important things, as I don't have really any right to, in my mind, being so far apart from them as ( Read more... )

I loved the ending, but it made me very sad. I agree that that is how things should be, but not in terms of storytelling.

In terms of storytelling, that ending was fantastic and managed to pack in an extra emotional gutpunch while still giving the audience some level of payoff.

. . .In terms of my loving these characters like people, then yes. ;_; That's how it should be.

I don't really have a problem with happy endings so long as I feel they're deserved or fitting with the story of the show. I tend to prefer bittersweet endings simply because most of the media I adore contain them. However, many movies that I adore, as well as my anime of animes(not necessarily my favorite, but maybe the one I have the most emotional connection to and one of my first anime and manga), have happy endings - it's just that if it feels tacked-on or a poor fit with the rest of the story, it annoys me. However, that's mostly in theory, as I can't really think of an example.
