I haven't had much to say lately, so I haven't been posting, and also, I've really not felt like rattling on about fiction and my insignificant life when far more important things are happening in this world, but I also have not wanted to discuss said important things, as I don't have really any right to, in my mind, being so far apart from them as

Your thoughts on the end, other than it being awesome (IE, the final battle) are absent. You know my opinions, and I did kinda wanna hear yours. Though I know you don't mind a bit of a down at the end. But I can now post this.

THIS is how things should be. For the people like me, who watch Eureka Seven and love the ending that's so sweet it'll give to diabetes. In your case, your Melancholic, or perhaps Supine temperament is more conditioned to that kind of thing. As noted by your metaphorical want you hide yourself from the in your faceness of the opening- My Choleric style is much suited to that kind of thing. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!?

Clearly I am the person you are referring to, and I find it funny that with Gurren Lagann, I wouldn't watch something I'd probably find okay, but I went for Princess Tutu to have you watch Bleach. I wonder if my opinion changed somewhere along the line.

I loved the ending, but it made me very sad. I agree that that is how things should be, but not in terms of storytelling.

In terms of storytelling, that ending was fantastic and managed to pack in an extra emotional gutpunch while still giving the audience some level of payoff.

. . .In terms of my loving these characters like people, then yes. ;_; That's how it should be.

I don't really have a problem with happy endings so long as I feel they're deserved or fitting with the story of the show. I tend to prefer bittersweet endings simply because most of the media I adore contain them. However, many movies that I adore, as well as my anime of animes(not necessarily my favorite, but maybe the one I have the most emotional connection to and one of my first anime and manga), have happy endings - it's just that if it feels tacked-on or a poor fit with the rest of the story, it annoys me. However, that's mostly in theory, as I can't really think of an example.
