Thank you, Peter S. Beagle's e-mail newsletter, for introducing me to stuffonmycat.com. It is incredibly amusing.
. . .I'm almost as amused by the actual newsletter, which is mostly stuff like, "Okay, who left a cake knife at my event?" and "Look at how cute my cat is!" bookended by actual news.

Ah, random Twelve Kingdoms note, but: Does anyone else find it really funny that Yoko, upon coming to the Twelve Kingdoms, barely survives and ends up hardening herself and developing drastically as a person, whereas Taiki, when he arrives, is immediately cuddled and offered fruit?

You know, when I was at St. John's, everyone kept asking me what Illiad translation I picked out. It seems to be a hugely divisive issue, with Lattimore and Fitzgerald being the main camps. Awesome.

I am testing out the idea of using tildes to separate topics. This could be either really useful, or really annoying. I am purposefully overusing them in this entry in order to amuse myself.

So, I saw Wolverine last night, and I saw Bolt last week. The former pretty much met my expectations, and the latter blew them away. Wolverine . . .eh, it was fun, but all over the place. Like I said, that's what I expected, though. There was one character I absolutely adored, though, and one particular moment with this character that was amazing. Now, as for Bolt . . .wow. The animation, the voice work, the writing. . .I was thoroughly impressed, honestly. This is a happy family film about a talking dog and it made me cry. . .though, actually, in that respect I'm more surprised about a non-Pixar Disney CGI film making me cry. What's funny is that the whole movie is incredibly predictable and uses a completely standard plot, and yet it doesn't matter at all because the characters are great and it's done so well.

I've started Giant Robo, and emotionally, it was exactly what I needed. It is awesome and fun and just really, really neat, and while I haven't really latched onto the characters yet, I'm loving Ginrei and Daisaku. Particularly the opening sequence with the robot guy in the trenchcoat and fedora who turns out to be Ginrei, fighting on the train and rescuing the professor with the atache case. I'll have more to say about this later, but for now it's fun and cool and showing a stupendous amount of promise.

I don't actually have anything else to say, I just wanted to use another tilde. :P
