This morning, I woke up. This is a common occurence, although this particular instance was unusual, as I do not normally wake up at 5:30 in the morning, nor is David Sedaris' voice usually the first thing I hear. These attributes of my morning were due to the early hour at which I had gone to sleep last night(I had not truly intended to sleep at ( Read more... )

Well, this is by far the most deep and beautiful thing I've ever heard you say, and I commend your artistry. Actually, I think I did wake up at 5:30 myself sometime earlier this week, but I am a sleeper. And by that, I mean I can (and have) sleep through storms (Including one huge-ass Typhoon while I lived in Guam), earthquakes (Hey, also in Guam) and any number of other things, so after I noted how cold it felt, I closed my window, flicked off my fan, asked the cat she was doing laying on my feet as opposed to in her bed (which is sorta by my feet anyway, but my bed is big enough so that there is distance involved. In the early mornings at some point, the cat likes to switch to laying at> my feet), crammed my head under a pillow and went back to bed for another hour and a half, as the testing thing you mentioned is very prevalent for me right now, as I am basically preparing my ass to wake up at seven or so Saturday after next to be at the local high school at like eight to take the ACT again.

On a normal day, I wake up at like nine-nine thirty, and drag my ass outta bed at like ten. Or course, I have certain liberties most people do not. I'm not a morning person anyway. Or a noon person. The afternoon is usually a time when I struggle to find something to do. So really, evenings are my time. Also there's less sunlight involved at night, and apart from my aversion to bright light (I live my life under indirect light or artificial light), I do like the night... the stars and stuff, y'know. I rather like the dark, actually. And since my house goes to sleep at like nine at night, I'm basically the only person here.

PS: See, I wouldn't mind, say, bumming around outside to stargaze or watch an amazing sunrise or something, but from your tale, you actually walked a bit in the cold pre-dawn air, which involves to things I am dead set against if at all possible, physical activity and the cold.

Thanks. I'm glad my morning had artistry. (I am of course, joking. Really, thanks.)

You know, your cat laying on your feet means she likes you. And that you're a nice sort of heat.

Well, I slept through Hurricane Wilma. (Seriously, ask Kagoma.)

I usually get up at 7:30, although I generally stay in bed until 8-8:30. Waking up isn't the hard part, it's not falling back to sleep.

I wish you luck with the ACT. That test is rather vicious, particularly the very short amount of time for each segment. When I went, I had to go all the way up to Miami to take it.

Well, I really, really love the cold. My theory is that this has something to do with where you are born. I was born in Vermont. You were. . .was it Guam? Or were you born in Wisconsin? My Mom was born in Guam, and thus can't stand temperatures below 69 degrees. Also, the thing about walking, is that once you get into it, it's no longer physical activity as it is your body's natural rhythm. I mean, walking is our primary and basic form of transportation, after all.

Heh, yeah, in Florida, everyone else would go to bed at about 8-9PM. Here, my Dad stays up till, like, 2.

I was, in fact, born in Green Bay Wisconsin (Hence my genetic loyalty to the Green Bay Packers. I was just born that way). However, my earliest memories are from Guam. However, after two years there, I moved to NC, then to Georgia (The north end) where winters were cold. However, remember that I have lived the last 8+ years of my life in Florida, and four of those in South Florida where cold is "below 69 degrees". And here in central Florida, most of the year is warm. I'm just a warm guy in general. My mother actually comments on how my room is so "stuffy" and "hot" when I have to stick my legs under the covers when I run my ceiling fan, or I get cold. I run my showers really hot too. You on the other hand, once jumped into a cold pool while it was raining, and were totally fine.

My slept through a major storm tops yours. a Cat-5 super typhoon on Guam, IE, a piece of rock in the pacific ocean. I slept through the worst parts too, I think. But yeah, you and I are night creatures, to be sure. Me to my more extreme extent, for sure. I prefer a rainy day to a sunny day (I actually am known to observe that it is a nice day outside when it looks like there's going to be another Flood. ), and usually have to squint a lot whenever I leave the house as I find the bright pure sunlight to be just that goddamn bright. (And I never remember to bring sunglasses). From an aesthetic point-of-view, I do much prefer starlight and moonlight to sunlight, too, not that I leave my house much at night either. Night has one disadvantage that it is usually colder than the day, though...

PS: I'm well aware that my cat likes me most of the time. But y'know, she didn't used to use my foot as a bed (and my cat's kinda heavy. Which is annoying when you want to move the sheets) and has a bad habit of attacking my feet if I move them around to much, and she still has all her pointy bits.

PPS: Also, I don't find the ACT that rough of a test, and I never have any real problems with the time, it's just that for a full ride, I need a 28 (2 more than my previous 26), and milking the test for another two points, especially when I did really well above average the first time is hard work. Here's hoping, though.
