Indymedia.org

This week we read Indymedia.org. I was nicely surprised by how easy this was to read and comprehend. I visited this site on the internet while I was reading and found it quite useful. It also brought about questions in my mind as to the validity of some of the stories. Some were ones that I had heard of before but others were intriguing simply because they were new to me. This site allowed me to click on my home town of Houston, Texas, and get the latest news from down there. I am glad that I now have this source of information on news. As I continued reading, though, questions arose about the sources for the stories. Although they are sited, the sources sited were not exactly what I would call credible. But, I believe that this site, along with certain other blogs, such as thedrudgereport.com, can be a useful source of information in addition to the TV news and the mass media found in Newspapers and magazines. I do not agree with the majority of bias in the mass media today, but do find that as I decipher, on my own, the facts from the opinions, I find that this media outlet is undeniably important. At any point in time now, I can go on the internet and find information through this new site, or turn on the TV and in both cases, learn a lot.
