Hi Livejournal. How are you? I've been well, well-ish, unwell, and plenty of other things since we last spoke. Why, it's been almost a year since I've posted. How on earth can we catch up?

---

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Went to Ireland, moved in with a David and became financially independent (or at least, am trying). Also joined a gym. That was a good idea.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Still didn't make any, so I kept to them pretty well.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
None that I can think of...

4. Did anyone close to you die?
The gang's all here.

5. What countries did you visit?
Ireland, land of adorable old racists.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Balls.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My birthday, which was spectacularly disastrous. The week in May I spent in Ireland, seeing plays and connecting with extended family. And, of course, moving in with the David. Oh, and the date of the most recent Electric Six concert... best concert ever. Ever. Oh, and Valentine's Day, when my dog was diagnosed with lymphoma, and also the say, several months later, when he officially beat it and recovered.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Moved in with my boyfriend.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I could be really self-loathing and say, "Me!" but chicks don't dig self-loathing guys.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Chipped a tooth on stage. That was rad.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Half of an apartment's rent.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
The little old Irish woman who, upon talking to me about the presidential election here in the US, said, "You know, I just don't like the black fella." Adorable. And racist.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
That guy. You know.

14. Where did most of your money go?
What money?

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Moving. Fresh starts are awesome.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"Gay Bar Part Two" by Electric Six

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? 45 pounds thinner.
c) richer or poorer? Richer now that I'm getting a paycheck.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working, writing, directing. (Same as last year, oddly enough)

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sittin'. (Also same as last year... huh.)

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Earlier in the day with my mom, brother and grandma, unwrapping presents and eating Mexican food, and later with my Dad, playing cards.

21. How did you spend New Years?
Cooking and watching shitty movies.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I've fallen and I can't get up.

23. How many one-night stands?
I have a few night-stands... is that what you're asking?

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Daily Show, Top Chef, and Project Runway.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
That guy. The one over there. He's a prick.

26. What was the best book you read?
"The Ruling Class" by Peter Barnes.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Electric Six's new album, "Flashy." And the Eels.

28. What did you want and get?
More things than I'm used to. More books, a paying directing job in professional equity theater, an apartment with my boyfriend... things are looking up.

29. What did you want and not get?
... Poon?

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Sorry "The Dark Knight" but... I have to say "Synecdoche, New York." The most gorgeous mind-fuck of a movie I've seen in years.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 24 and had to deal with my grandma threatening to kill herself, and spent the last several hours of it at home, alone, eating chocolate covered almonds... the make up birthday a few days later, I saw "Wall-E" and ate tasty food.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Testicles.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
The old t-shirt and jeans combo with a few steps into more formal wear territory.

34. What kept you sane?
David and my dogs.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Super Grover.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Were there any?

37. Who did you miss?
All the cats and people I didn't hit with my car.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
All the actors and theater folk I've met at North Coast Repertory. They are grand.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Accomplishing things is kickass.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
There's nothing that i wanna do
More than get along and be with you
Trouble with dreams is they don't come true
And when they do they can't catch up to you

You don't need a thing from me
But i need something big from you
'cause you know i've got
An awful lot of big dreams

I'm walking down a lonely road
Clear to me now but i was never told
Trouble with dreams is you never know
When to hold on and when to let go

If you let me down it's alright
At least that leaves something for me
'cause you know i've got
An awful lot of big dreams

This is the life that i must lead now
Crossing fingers and wiping brow
Trouble with dreams is you can't pretend
Something with no beginning has an end

You don't need a thing from me
But i need something big from you
'cause you know i've got an awful lot of big dreams

A survey. You cunning bastard!
