2 week review...here it is
Saturday, June 11th - Darin and I make our way down to the St. Paul area for some wrestling at the St. Paul Saints game. Fun times I tell ya, a little hot but still a lot of fun. I wrestled two matches at the show and walked away with one win and one loss. My first match was against the current MPW Cruiserweight Champion, Prophet. Things were going pretty well until he reversed out of "Boomshockalocka" and bam! I got nailed by The Message and that was all for me. After the match, Benjamin Sailor and Pete Mack hit the ring and helped in a post match beat-down of yours truly with Prophet. To my aid though came Nate Bash and Darin Corbin and an impromtu six-man tag team match ensued. Things got a little crazy near the end with all of us in the ring and out of nowhere Bash hit a standing shooting star press for the pinfall victory. So one win and one loss for me, that batting 500 and I can handle that.
Sunday, June 12th - Sunday was to MPW, I didn't have a match on this day but I got so check out the quest for the cup competition. It was fun to watch as I sat out in the crowd for the first time in a really long time. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me if I'm going to win the cup this year as the competition is looking pretty strong.
On to week two.....
SIDE NOTE: During this past week, here at the house my parents decided to get rid of the local cable and pick up some Direct TV Satellite Cable gimmick...anyhoo the point of the story is that somehow there was some trouble with the hook-up and we were without the local channels. Now this may not be a big deal to some but this past week was the U.S. Open golf tournament and its broadcast on NBC on saturday and sunday so I was unable to watch the last two rounds of my favorite golf tournament of the year. BLAST! Anyhoo, I later found out that ESPN did a late night re-broadcast of the rounds so I caught a break. Carry on...
Sunday, June 19th - On this day was the MPW weekly show and on this night was a tag tournament that would determine the number one contenders for the MPW Tag Team Titles. The winners would get a shot at the current champs, The New Generation, on the June 25th Saturday show. To start the show, The New Generation crew of Cody O'Neill, Aaron Corbin and Joey Envy. They apparently thought that Arik Cannon was intending on being their newest member but that planned got flushed. Cannon came out and said that just because he'd worn a pink shirt a time or two didn't mean that he was going to join up with them. It was at this point that I decided to make my way down to the ring and interject myself. Basically I said to Cannon that the New Generation wasn't the way to go and that I would be more than happy to fill the void of his tag partner for the tournament that evening. He agreed and let's just say that the pink crew wasn't too happy. Anyways, on to the tournament. Cannon's and my first opponents were the NIW team of Kamikazee Klecker and Krazy K. In the end it was Krazy K feeling the Boomshockalocka and that was all for the NIW crew as well as Cannon and I moving onto the second round to face Pete Mack and Tad Chilli. This was a tall order mostly because their size advantage on Cannon and I. Things started out with Cannon tying up Chilli into a pretzel a couple of times but they quickly turned bad as Mack and Chilli resorted to some cheating and some tag team beating on Cannon. Cannon was able to muster a comeback and things got crazy with all four of us in the ring. Out of nowhere Cannon hit Mack with The Glimmering Warlock but was pulled out of the ring by Chilli so I hopped back in the ring and scored the pinfall over Mack to send Cannon and I to the finals of the tournament to face Nate Bash and Kid Krazy. This match was pretty insane with some fast action. Towards the end of the match I hit Bash with Boomshockalocka but wasn't able to make the cover. As Bash tried to get up he was hit with The Glimmering Warlock but Krazy prevented Cannon from making the cover as he tackled him and they both fell out of the ring. I quickly covered Bash and got the 3 count. Cannon and I won the tournament and have the chance to win the MPW Tag Team Titles this coming saturday when we face The New Generation. After the match, O'Neill and Corbin came to the ring and decided to pick a fight with Cannon and myself. After 3 matches Cannon and I were still able to fend them off. So this saturday I'm gonna get my tag titles back...it's been too long without them.
After the show Applebees followed and good times were had. Got to hang with some Rob Page and I must say that THE WATER IS FINE!!! So that's the last two weeks, things are looking pretty busy for me the next couple of weekends as this coming weekend is the tag title match on saturday and Fan Appreciation Day at MPW on sunday. I'm back at NWA No-Limits on July 8th in Muscatine, Iowa. Then its back on saturday for more St. Paul Saints action then to the NIW Summer Heat: E2 where Darin and I get a shot at the MPW tag team titles against The INvasion. And then sunday to MPW for some sunday night action. Busy, busy I tell ya.
