Well, good luck to people in Georgia, what with all the people being falsely removed from voting records and having their citizenship questioned. This is what happens when Georgians start trying to work with computers.
Things up here are pretty cool. I wasn't going to vote because... well, there isn't much point. We know how this state is going to swing and neither Cheria nor I particularly saw the benefit. But after the last gubernatorial race was apparently decided by a couple of hundred votes, I figured it might not be an awful idea, especially in a state that's pretty well split between decently metropolitan & suburban areas and backwoods yokels, almost living in Idaho.
So Cheria and I registered onine, which was awfully easy. And it allowed us the option to become permanent absentee voters. So, last week our ballots arrived, so I got to do some lazy voting while sitting at my desk. And it was convenient to have the computer there to look up info on non-partisan positions and races for court judges.
And then there's the ballot initiatives. Fucking Washington is crazy for a ballot initiative. It's how they get public support behind anything, which doesn't really work as there's always whiners voting "no" for just about any occasion. That's why the roads in Seattle look (and feel) like they were poured in 1927. It's like driving through Chattanooga in a car that's in the process of exploding. But watch out every time a ballot initiative comes up to pass more money for roads. The fucking green hippie fucktards and the "I don't want my tax money paying for anything at all" shitheads get together to whine about it. This area has infrastructure that should seem embarrassing 15 years ago. But people complain about paying for absolutely anything. The school system seems to be in constant trouble, transit obviously blows, and the state doesn't even have an income tax, but people bitch like little girls when they hear their tax money will go toward anything at all.
So I had to research all those bland and oddly-worded ballot initiatives. But it was an interesting change from the lame shit that passes for elections in Georgia. And I didn't even have to stand in line for 2 hours!
Now I'll just have to mail it in after Cheria copies my ballot (as I actually took the time to look everything up). I hope you'll remember this, possible Superior Court Judge Julia Garratt! I may need a favor someday...
