Somewhere Out There

I was looking at my user profile, and noticed that I started Livejournal on May 10, 2002. That's almost TWELVE YEARS AGO.

TWELVE YEARS.My world has completely changed in ways that I couldn't even begin to explain to you. I don't  even remotely resemble the person I was twelve years ago ( Read more... )

Well, I am not one of your old lj-friends, but you sound very deep in thought. Been there, too, so I know what you mean. I then tried to contact people I knew back then and only very few responded. But I guess that's how life goes, we know people, we share some time and thoughts, and then we move on. In a way it is sad, but in another it's good, because otherwise we'd be suck in a rut forever and that's deeply depressing.

I know all about thinking you own the world. This changes, at least that's what I think, as we grow older because the more we learn, the more we know, the more we realize we know nothing. And if it helps any, I constantly feel as if I'm right there. Not yet quite sure how I feel about that.

Oh yeah, completely true - the more we learn, the more we realize that we know nothing! And yeah, you're totally right on that...sometimes we do have to just move on, or we'll be stuck in a rut forever.

You have inspired me to try and contact some of my LJ friends! I stated my LJ 1 years ago so I know what you mean. I have good friends that I've since met in real life that I first got to know on LJ and while it's sad that it doesn't have the same kind of community it once did I don't feel too bad as it's been replaced by other online things that do the same job. Twitter for example, where I've got online and friends I've since met in real life on there.

There's just something different about LJ though that I like a lot, Twitter doesn't completely replace it I guess.

yes, i've tried twitter and facebook and they're really not the same! livejournal allows you to make friends...it's so hard to make friends with twitter, I could never do it!

You've really accomplished a lot in twelve years. When I look back, I see I haven't done a fraction of that.

I have good friends on LJ too, and have also lost touch with people who used to be good friends, for some reason or another. Hopefully some of yours will get back in touch.

thanks :) yeah it's kinda sad when you lose touch with Livejournal friends...but I guess it's pretty hard to maintain a friendship when you don't see people in real life. But I'm glad that i'm making more friends on livejournal these days, hopefully i can keep my new ones :)

" I was born and raised in Seattle, and to make Livejournal friends who were from places like Australia, London, New York...that was pretty cool, since they lived so far away yet they still had so much in common with me."
I think that what makes LJ awesome.
12 yrs?! This calls for a celebration!
