Copied from Wes' LJ, but because I am interested as well, and I already asked my sister to quiz her

So this is copied from Wes' LJ, but I was going to post something similar when I got home. I asked my little sister when I called her walking home (about 5 min ago) the same question. So, since Wes asked it so well, and presented it so well:

Not exactly homework, just something we discussed in class today:

Do you ever use "I've been X" (with "been" emphasized) to mean "I have been X for some time, and still am"? It's obviously harder to represent without hearing it spoken, but it might crop up in the following contexts:

"You're not allowed to drink. You're not 21!"
"Man, I've been 21."

"We were supposed to meet in this spot, but I didn't see you."
"I've been here"

"I didn't know he was a senior."
"He's been a senior."

::End of stuff copied from Wes::

I'll type up later, what the question I asked in class was about which prompted this discussion, and discuss a possible trend that this could be showing. It's really interesting! YAY for them silly ling majors doing something odd again.
