I just submitted this for a scholarship;

Origami
We were once flat pieces of paper.
Do you remember that time grasshopper?
We once covered different tables in the art room.
Some of us were lilac,
Some of us were lime green,
And yet still, some of us were so many colors no one could tell where one ended and another began.
We slowly but surly folded ourselves into fortune tellers
Each labeled with numbers, colors, and possible futures.
Then we evolved to paper cups that held no water,
But plenty of laughter.
Soon the boys got bored with the bright colors and simply folded notebook paper
They flicked it back and forth,
Like they did with your emotions.
Do you remember that grasshopper?
The origami notes seemed to fly away like so many Japanese paper cranes.
And now we must fly on.
To different pounds.
To different tables that have an array of colored paper covering them.
And now we must fly on.
