My Vertiginous Week

Vertigo sucks.  I'm just going to put that out there.

Tuesday night on the Fifth of January, I went to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens with my brother, who was in town for a visit.  I felt fine after the movie, and through breakfast the next morning.  However, around noon I started to feel a bit dizzy.  I sat down, hoping it would pass.  However ( Read more... )

Thank you! I'm amazed it's taken this long to start feeling better. Haha, didn't stop me from buying books, though! XD

well, vertigo can be a witch like that ::firm nod::

and what did you think of the Star Wars movie? [::unashamedly wanting a toy version of BB-8::]

I've seen it three times now...and I'm still not totally sure?

Like, I think them basically remaking A New Hope was perhaps not the best idea? (Droid with vital information on a desert planet finds untrained Jedi kid, go to a big cantina scene, fly X-wings through a trench to blow up a planet-sized weapon...) Sooo many of the story beats were the same, it distracted from getting into the movie.

Though I loved seeing the old characters again, of course, and the new actors were all pretty good (except Kylo Ren, who sounded like an emo teen). BB-8 is the most adorable thing since puppies. And the practical effects were great.

Apparently I have ~feelings~ about this, haha. Maybe I'll write up a proper review at some point.

There's a twitter account called Emo Kylo Ren (or something to that effect) - he and a twitter account for Luke (episode 7 Luke, to be accurate) had a fun twitter war going [one of the geek pages I follow on Facebook shared a couple of exchanges]

haven't seen it yet [planning on doing that once it hits on demand, heh] - but all I can think of hearing about Emo Kylo Ren is that it's practically Ani 2.0 XD

and I will love to read your review of the movie!

and no surprises that I've been batting around a Star Wars/Dragon Flyz x-over, heh. Z slides to the Dark side to mirror his getting turned into a mutant in Dragon Flyz canon but I need help with a good Sith name. Suggestions?
