Catching up around the room

Ever since I've been done with school and studying for my boards, I've been buying toys and dolls like crazy. I don't know if it's three years of pent up stress or what, but I've been doing serious retail therapy lately.

On the action figure side, I finally found the Sorceress and Teela from the MOTU line and gave poor Adam some company. I still want more of this line, but hate being outbid on Ebay all the time, which kind of ruins it for me.

I also finished my quartet of ReBoot figures with AndrAIa. She's so awesome! Now I want to get more from this line.

Thanks to tanz_fanatika , I now have the very cool Deuce Gorgon and Cleo de Nile from the upcoming Monster High line. I can't wait to get the rest of them!

I swear I will take better pictures of them soon. They absolutely BEG for more camera time! Although I'm a little worried that Deuce's sideburns seem to be popping out. :/

Rani is the newest addition to my Disney Fairies collection. Now I only need Tink and I'll have all the original Disney Store dolls!

Heh. I'm not sure why she's hanging out with the superheroes in the comics section.

And moving on....

In celebration of the upcoming Toy Story 3 (SO EXCITED) I allowed myself these.

The gang in miniature!

I absolutely need more of them. Bo Peep, Hamm, and Slinky Dog if at all possible.

And I picked up the gift set of Barbie and Ken based on their looks from the movie.

Their look is very fun and 80s!

I also picked up this set. Their official titles are "Barbie Loves Ken" and "Ken Loves Barbie." They each have fun details based on their opposites from the movie looks. Like Ken has teal pants and Barbie has a blue leopard skirt. There are multiple other "Barbie Loves-" for Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and the Aliens.

The best details are their shirts, however. Great use of art and screening!

Barbie has actually been my fastest growing ANYTHING right now. I've added soo many to the original six of Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Edward, Bella, and Jacob.

Fashionista Ken #1 "Hottie" was the first. His new name is Lex.

I really love the poseability of this line, but only the Ken's really have good fashions.

Fashionista Ken #2 "Sporty" joined the gang. His new name is T.J.

Fauxhawk!

The glasses are a bit hard to get on and off, but make for a killer look.

Lex and T.J. are currently college roommates.

Lex's older sister Vera also joined them (Barbie Basics Model #9).

I adore her. And really want to get Basics Model #5, but she is apparently impossible to find in stores.

Bro and Sis!

A pic of the trio.

I've also been getting some stuff from Barbie Collector...

DC Comics Black Canary (S&M Barbie? :D)

I love the packaging and backdrop! I need to get Batgirl to accompany her, then they can go all Birds of Prey on the villains. Heh. However, I don't like that her hands are painted black, and apparently the costume in not removable according to the box. Not that it really matters; she's not the kind of character that I'd ever really redress.

I also picked up Speed and Trixie during the same sale!

They're a fun set, even though I haven't seen the movie. I had a Speed Racer license plate frame on my car for years though, which is probably why I picked them up. XD

Barbie Collector has got me all interested in the vintage repros, too.

Midge and Allan are a fun set that I picked up off of onestopdollshop . I really like both of their face molds!

I love Midge's flipped hair.

Allan makes me think of Peter Pan aged a few years. I chuckled that his last name is apparently "Sherwood."

They're actually much cuter than original Barbie and Ken, but I picked up their accompanying vintage repro set for completeness.

Ken looks hunched, though maybe it's just the packaging?

Part of me is surprised I actually bought this set. I hate sports...especially football. But I can certainly see the charm. And I like having a brownette flocked hair Ken.

The final thing I've picked up recently in the "1 Modern Circle" line from 2003. I have actually wanted this line for years. They use vintage face sculpts with really modern hair and clothing. They're probably some of the most unique-looking Barbies I've ever seen. Plus I really like the little backstory that goes with them all working at a film production company.

From R to L: Barbie (producer), Ken (art director), Melody (production assistant), Simone (make-up artist)

Love the vibrant orange hair! Too bad her box is cracked at the bottom.

Ken's leather jacket is just awesome.

Melody may be my favorite of the line. I'm such a sucker for blue hair.

Simone has cool green woven into her braids. Her face looks the least vintage, though.

According to the story, there is apparently a bit of a love triangle between Ken, Melody, and Barbie. I guess that was the "modern" thing to do? XD

I think that line could fit very nicely with Fashion Royalty dolls in terms of looks.

Whew! The End!

I'm leaving at 6 am tomorrow morning for Seattle and the San Juan Islands for about a week. It's seriously been three years since I had a real vacation. Note: I consider a real vacation to be longer than a week.

Also, I was supposed to take the first part of my board examinations today, but ended up paying a fee to postpone it. I'm pretty sure I wasn't ready to take it, and really didn't want to have to wait the three month penalty period if I didn't pass.

Anyway, I will see you all in a week!

barbie, dolls, disney fairies, motu, reboot, monster high, toy story, trips, toys
