Summary: Yuto is a very quite guy and never talk with others. People call him mute, people call him weird and he always end up being bullied. He doesn’t have any friend. His friend was only an abandoned kitten and Ryosuke is trying to be a replacement for that kitten as Yuto’s pet.

The homeroom teacher left the classroom after wrote “Self Study” on the blackboard and students are sighing in relief. Some of them are stretching their arms and some of girls gather around and start gossiping. But there are students that keep studying especially spectacles guy who sit behind Yuto. He’s a top student after all. Ryosuke pull his chair closer to Yuto’s seat and fold his hand on Yuto’s table.
“Ne~ Yuto-kun, you said that when Kyo-chan is big enough you want to buy collar for her deshou?”
“Sou desu kedo. Nande?”
“I know one pet shop that sells a lot of beautiful collars. Do you want to go after school?” he asked a bit nervous but he managed to hide it. It’s like asking him for a date.
“Ii yo. But we go after we visit Kyo-chan”, Yuto agreed and Ryosuke rejoiced. He hopes that school will end sooner.
The two of them talking and smiling but they didn’t realize that someone is watching at them. It’s not just that, they being watched since they become close friend. A girl who sits next to corridor is staring at him with eyes full of hatred. She is Kawaguchi Haruna, daughter of a chairman from Kawaguchi’s Group which is the biggest company in entire Tokyo. All students admire and respect her because of her wealth. Guys treating her like a princess. They carry her bag, buy her food so she don’t have to queue and do all her duty class.
The truth is Haruna likes Ryosuke on very first time he stepped into the class. She tried to approach him slowly, ask him to teach her even though she understands the lesson pretty well and ask him to help with her homework even though she know exactly how to answer the questions. She wants to use all these excuses so she can thank him in return.
One day she braved herself to ask him out and treat him for a meal after school but before she can do that, Ryosuke is nowhere to found. She waited for him on the next day but she couldn’t find him either. She kept waiting on the next day, and the day after that, and the day after until she gave up. So she decided to follow him.
After the school bell rang she waited until Ryosuke came back from his club meeting. When he stepped into the class she was the only one left. Ryosuke asked her why she hasn’t go home and she lied that her driver will pick her up a bit late. After he packed up his thing and walked out from the class, she followed him sneakily until she saw Ryosuke heading toward the lab building. Behind it, she surprised to saw Ryosuke and Yuto are laughing together and playing with a cat.
Later on she found out that Ryosuke will meet Yuto at the same place everyday after school. She felt more surprised when one morning Ryosuke greeted Yuto using his first name then Yuto called him Ryo. She crumpled the page of her note book as anger built up inside her. She always wanted to call him with that name but Yuto took it from her. Moreover, he’s a freak and she can’t accept Ryosuke being friendly with him. But what make her despises that guy more is after she saw him hugging with Ryosuke. On that very moment, she promised herself to make Yuto pay for everything. She gonna make his life miserable…

“Yuto-kun! Yuto-kun! This one is also cute. But I like this one better. Mou~ I don’t know which one to choose”, Ryosuke whining while holding two collars on his hand and Yuto only shaking his head.
“Who’s the one who gonna wear this collar anyway? You or Kyo-chan?” Yuto said almost chuckling.
“Jeez, Yuto-kun. You’re not helping at all!” Ryosuke pout.
“Hai, hai. Let pick this one”, Yuto point his finger to black colored collar on Ryosuke’s right hand. It has silver teddy bear shaped pendant and he loves it.
“Okay!” Ryosuke smile happily. He knows that Yuto will pick this one.
“Let give this to her right now!” he said excitedly after walking out from the shop.
“Eh? It’s already late. We give her tomorrow, okay?” Yuto said. He also can’t wait to wear this collar on Kyo-chan but it’s already dark.
“Okay…” he sighed a bit disappointed. But Yuto’s right. It’s late and they need to go home. So he just needs to wait until tomorrow then.
The next day after school, Ryosuke is standing beside Yuto’s table, grabbing Yuto’s pen and pencil in hurry and shove them in his pencil case. He can’t wait to meet Kyo-chan but Yuto is so slow.
“Mou~ Yuto-kun. Hayaku, hayaku!” he said as Yuto still putting his books in his bag.
“Okay, okay, it’s done. Ikou?” Yuto said as he placed his bag on his shoulder.
“Un!” Ryosuke replied excitedly and they walk out from the classroom side by side. Yuto just smile seeing Ryosuke beside him who is skipping and swing his bag back and forth while grinning widely. He must be really happy to give the collar to Kyo-chan. Yuto thought.
When they reached at their special place, they saw Kyo-chan is chasing a grasshopper. It jump and clapping its paw when the grasshopper fly but it fly so far and Kyo-chan could only stare where the grasshopper flies. Yuto and Ryosuke look at each after and smile before they walk closer to Kyo-chan.
“Kyo-chan~ we have something for you~” Ryosuke already kneeling in front of the cat and patting its head. Then he looks at Yuto beside him.
“Ta-da~” Yuto take out the collar from his pocket and shake it in front of Kyo-chan. Kyo-chan seem attracted to teddy bear pendant which is wagging before it eyes and stretch its paw try to catch the pendant.
“Ryo, could you hold her for a while so I can put this collar?” Yuto asked and Ryosuke lift Kyo-chan up and hold it close to his chest so it will stay still.
Yuto move closer to Ryosuke and make him flinch. Yuto face is only an inch from his and he can feel his cheek is burning. Yuto lower his head to put the collar on Kyo-chan making his hair brushes Ryosuke’s lips. His heart is beating crazily. Kyo-chan surely can hear his heartbeat. Luckily Kyo-chan is just a cat so it can’t tell Yuto how loud his heart is pounding right now. He closes his eyes. Yuto’s hair feels so soft and smells so nice. But before he can sniff more, Yuto already move away.
“It’s done~” Yuto said after put on the collar and Ryosuke quickly look down to Kyo-chan so he can hide his redden cheek.
“Uwah, kawaii~” Kyo-chan’s cuteness calm down his heart. He stands up and raises Kyo-chan higher above his head and twirl around. Yuto who still sitting on the ground just chuckling looking at him. Ryosuke put Kyo-chan down and it walk toward Yuto.
“Nya~” it meow and rub its head on Yuto’s leg.
“Oh, are you thanking me?” Yuto smile and brings Kyo-chan to his lap. It purr when Yuto scratching its neck.
“I think she likes our present”, Ryosuke sit near beside Yuto so he can pat Kyo-chan too on his lap.
Suddenly, Ryosuke feels warm hand touching his head.
“You know, your hair color is same as Kyo-chan’s,” Yuto said while caressing Ryosuke’s hair. His heart starts thumping fast, again. His blood all rush to his face and make his white pale skin turn as red as strawberry.
“You two really look alike”, Yuto chuckles, his fingers still playing with Ryosuke’s hair.
“B-baka! I’m not a cat!” Ryosuke still look down at Kyo-chan while Yuto already laughing.
Ne, Kyo-chan? If I tell Yuto that I love him, will we still laughing like this? Ryosuke asked in his heart and Kyo-chan just stare at him with empty look.

This morning, Yuto is the first one to come in the class as usual. He needs to get here early everyday so he can feed Kyo-chan. But today, it seem that someone have come earlier than him to do this.
Yuto is standing in front of his seat. His table is covered by rubbish, all wet and stinky. Inside his table also filled with trash and his note books all tore off. He sighed. It has been a long time since he got bullied. Now, it starts all over again. He already used to this so he just have to go through it again. It took him a while to clean his table and luckily he managed to do that right before other students start coming.
But one thing he can’t clean it off. The words “Die” and “Parasite” carved on his table, it’s impossible to make it disappear. All he can do is cover the table using his textbooks so Ryosuke, especially him will not see it. He knows that guy will worry about him and involving popular student like him in this mess is not a good idea. So he decided to keep this in secret. He talks normally with Ryosuke in class and tries his best to make sure that his table covered.
“Yuto-kun, gomen. Today I can’t go play with Kyo-chan. I need to get home early because my grandparents are coming today”, Ryosuke whispered.
“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it”, Yuto smiled.
“Hm? Why you take out your history textbook? We are not having history lesson today,” Ryosuke wonder when he saw the book on Yuto’s table.
Yuto gasped. The history textbook is slightly bigger than other that’s why he used it to cover his table.
“I know. I just want to do some revision,” he answered calmly.
“Heeh…I don’t know you’re such a bookworm, Yuto-kun” Ryosuke teased.
“Urusai.” Then both of them are laughing.
At the other corner of the class, Haruna is watching them with crossed arms and irritated eyes. She quite impressed that Yuto could act like nothing happen in front of Ryosuke. She paid someone to mess up Yuto’s table this morning. But that was just a beginning.
“Laugh while you still can, Nakajima Yu-to”, she murmurs while smirking.
“Haru-chan? Did you say something?” her friend asked.
“Nnn~ nandemonai~”, she said cutely, wearing back her sweet princess mask.
Tiring school day has finally ended. Yuto now is standing in front of his shoes locker. He opens the locker only to see a paper inside and not his shoes. He takes out the paper and read the content.
‘Get lost barefooted you loser!’ That was written on the paper. He crumbles the paper and tosses it somewhere else. Today, he goes home with his indoor shoes. Luckily Ryosuke already went back early so he can’t see him in this state.
Previously, he doesn’t care any of these shits. He thought of suicide countless time after his parents died but ever since he found Kyo-chan, he got source of his life back. He needs to stay alive so he can take care of that cat. And now, he has a friend who cares about him. So he needs to be stronger, mentally and physically.
The teacher is writing maths problems on the blackboard while the students are copying and try to solve the problems in ready before that fierce teacher start to call them randomly to answer the question in front.
Chinen Yuri’s hand which busy writing on his book suddenly stops when he feels something fall on his feet. He bends down under his table and saw a black colored ID card wallet. He picks it up and opens the wallet. Inside he saw Nakajima Yuto’s student ID card. He gasps. His heart starts beating faster. Then he looks at Yuto’s back in front of him. This is his chance!
He has been wanting to talk with Yuto all this time. Nothing has interest him except books and science. However, sitting behind Yuto mean he was forced to witness his changes from day to day. Everytime Yuto talk with Ryosuke, he got to see him showing difference expressions that he never once imagined to see it coming from a guy who people called emotionless freak. Yuto amused him. It’s like seeing an ugly caterpillar transformed into a butterfly. Yuto is a beautiful butterfly that he desire to catch and do some experiments on it.
“Nakajima-kun”, Chinen whispers and Yuto turn to look at spectacles guy behind him.
“You drop this”, he show the card wallet to Yuto and he immediately touch his pocket. Its true, his ID card is not in his pocket anymore. He’s wondering when it fell off from his pocket.
“Arigatou”, he stretches his hand to get the wallet from Chinen.
“Is that your cat?” Chinen asked as he saw a cat picture beside Yuto’s ID card.
“Yeah”, Yuto answered.
“What its name?”
“Kyo.”
“It’s a cute name. I really like to see her but…to go to your place when we are not very close is kinda weird, isn’t it?” Chinen’s question make Ryosuke who has been eavesdropping from the moment he called Yuto become more anxious.
“Well…actually she’s not at my place. She-“
“She’s at Yuto-kun’s cousin’s place!” Ryosuke cut him out before he can finish his sentence. Both Yuto and Chinen look at him at the same time but Yuto look more confused. Kyo-chan is the only connection between him and Yuto. Being the only one who share Yuto’s most precious thing make him feel special and he doesn’t want anyone else to interrupt.
“Honto desu ka?” Chinen asked to confirm. Yuto look at Ryosuke who is making please-play-along-or-I-kill-you look on his face.
“S-sou”, he lied and Ryosuke feel relieved.
“Heeh~ such a waste”, Chinen pout.
“Beside, Kyo-chan could be fierce with stranger. He might bite you”, Ryosuke added, raising one of his eyebrow.
“How would you know? She might like me more than you~” Chinen said tauntingly while correcting his glasses with his index finger.
This spectacles squirrel! Stop being a busybody and go back study, you idiot!” Ryosuke cursed in his mind and look at Chinen annoyingly.
“Pff~” Yuto cover his mouth with the back of his hand, holding his laugh. But chuckles still escape from his lips and his wide smiles narrow his eyes. These two look like they are fighting over my daughter. Yuto thought and he can’t help but feel funny.
Ryosuke look at Yuto and his anger toward that squirrel slip away and smile curved on is lips. Then he averts his gaze to Chinen and his smile gone at once. The way Chinen look at Yuto is different, totally. He can’t describe it but he recognizes that distinctive glare.
That is how you look at someone you adore.
However, Ryosuke is not the only one who caught Chinen’s silence confession.
“Hmm~ you gonna be very useful to me, Chinen Yuri.” Haruna grin evilly. Inside, she is laughing as she just found a chess piece that she can control and manipulate to get a checkmate…
