So I'm up in Vermont for vacation with my mom, cousin Emma, and uncle Dirk (my cousin Nick is coming up on Wednesday). However, instead of going skiing today, we woke up late in the morning due to heavy rain that started last night and only relented in the last hour or two. The entire resort actually lost power for a few hours and the whole mountain was shut down. So instead of skiing, I sat around and played Canabalt on my iTouch and kept working on reading "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell."

Fun times, eh? It's not as bad as it sounds, but I'm a little bummed that I lost one of the few days that I'll actually have to ski this season. With surgery on Friday and recovery following that, it looks like I probably won't find another time this season to get on a mountain. Sadness.

I've edited the research project that I'm going to submit to NEU for my writing sample and I've written my statement of purpose, both of which I sent to Dr. Brewster for editing and feedback, plus ETS got back to me and I've submitted my scores, leaving very little left to my application. NEU is my first choice for PhD, so I'm definitely nervous about it all...
