Job Update

Mar 07, 2009 10:23

I have been keeping quiet on this because 1) There hasn't been much to report and 2) I've been a bit down and who needs to listen to me kvetch? So, on to the positive!

Right now I have about a month and a half's work for freelance lined up, and am trying to get the rest of the next quarter (through end of June) lined up as well. A friend from high school lives in Seattle and through his friends hooked me up with a copy of Office 2007 at employee cost, which is a huge saving for me. Now I'm pinging people I know who have contacts at Adobe, as a copy of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium is in my future.

As far as the actual job search goes, I'm not holding my breath. More and more layoffs are hitting, so I am focusing on building skills and lining up freelance to pay bills.

I'm really digging not having fixed hours at the moment, and while I get the freelance work set up I am getting caught up on my reading. Plus - more time with my Wife and Son, as well as getting the chance to re-evaluate a lot of the things that I thought were important.

I have about four or five people that I can get work from, including someone that I interviewed with who decided not to hire me on full time.

All in all, life is good, and going to get better shortly.
