Instructions: Each player starts with 7 random habits/facts about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged & list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged. [Note: I usually participate in these when tagged, but I don't generally pass the tag along. The madness has to stop somewhere. ;-)]
1. I have a nasty habit of performing surgery on my toes. I can't stand having ingrown toenails. So, at the first sign that they are headed that way, I whip out my scalpel and go to town. The result is often more than just removing the part of the nail that's headed to the side. But, it feels so good.
2. I used to have really long Bon Jovi rocker hair in the early 90s. At one point, it was almost down to my butt when wet. My hair is naturally curly and I would have to spend a good half-hour every morning fixing it. One evening, my roommates and I were watching a video and I said, quite off the cuff, that I was going to cut off all my hair when the movie was over. I had been thinking about it for some time, but they didn't know that, so they just blew it off. As soon as the movie was over, I headed to my bathroom, got a pair of scissors, and pulled a hunk of hair up away from my head. Just as I was about to make the first cut, my roommate Katherine passed by and screamed, "Nooooo! You can't do it like that." I replied, "Watch me." And, snip. There was no turning back. The next thing I knew, my other two roommates, Jeremy and Glen, were joining Katherine taking scissors to my locks. It was like Aslan getting shorn, with hair flying everywhere. After the scissors came the clippers, leaving me with a buzz cut. By the time it was over, there was not one inch of visible floor left in the bathroom. I have had military style hair ever since. My only regret is that I didn't know anything about Locks of Love. My hair would have made an incredible wig.
3. I was a total D&D geek in college. (I'm sure that's no surprise to most people.) I still love board games and have two regular game nights here in the city. I own about 80 board games, and the count keeps growing. But, I haven't played a role-playing game in many years. I sometimes miss it and have been tempted several times to start playing WoW online as a substitute. I even bought the game, but have not yet opened it. I have heard how much of a time sucker it can be, so I've been resisting. But, if someone made the right offer to actually play with me from the start, I might actually do it.
4. I was once engaged to a girl... my high school girlfriend. We got engaged when she was 19 and I was 21. I was doing my undergrad at Mizzou and she was attending a religious college in Arkansas. We only saw each other on weekends and holidays, which made it very convenient, me being gay and all. I truly loved her. Besides having female parts, she was everything that I wanted in a mate at the time. She died in a car accident in her freshman year in college. I quit school and started doing things that I hoped would get me killed, because I didn't have the guts to commit suicide. Although I was devastated about her death, I later realized that was not the reason I wanted to die. I wanted to die because I knew her death meant that I was going to have to come out and start living the life of a gay man. Her death forced me out of the closet. Even in death, she was one of the best things that ever happened to me.
5. I have always fantasized about hiring a hustler or picking up a homeless boy for sex. But, I've never actually done it. I think there are too many things standing in the way of this now, so it will probably always remain an unrealized fantasy.
6. I have a habit of being a very aggressive driver. There is little that gets me as upset as people who slow me down on the road. So, if you see a black Ford Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin with the license plate "RXDOC SF" coming up on your ass, you'd better move to the side or I'll be all up in your junk.
7. I have a shoe and boot fetish. It's probably not as bad as some people, but I had to buy a huge cabinet just to hold the ones I wear most often. I have two and three pairs of my favorite shoes stored in the basement, just so I can replace them when they wear out. Plus, I have others in storage just because I don't have room for them all in my bedroom. Not counting the duplicates, I probably have about 40 pairs of shoes and boots after having given many to charity before my move to SF.
