Labor Day Weekend

Perry's parents just left this morning after a 12-day visit for his 50th birthday. We had a crowded house for a while and we all had to be on our best behavior. Now, it's time for some fun... except that I may be spending some of the holiday weekend helping Sam and JP move into their new place (only five doors away from my house or, as Sam puts it, "within restraining order distance"). The best part of having Perry's parents here, apart from the fact that they are incredibly sweet and caring individuals, was keeping the dungeon a secret. It is funny to wonder what they think is in that huge room downstairs that Perry is sleeping in while they're here, but that for some reason we're keeping them away from.

Sam is very excited about having a home of his own again. And, I'm excited for him. He has been quite unsettled during the transition. I think this will help him settle down and relax a bit again.

Things are getting interesting at work. We have so much to do and everyone on my team is under a lot of scrutiny with respect to our output. But, despite that, my boss, the editor-in-chief, has told me that she doesn't see staying in that position forever, and she believes that there are only two of us on the team right now who could take her place, me being one of them and the other being someone who has already said she wouldn't want the position. But, she also said it wouldn't be anytime soon, which is good because I don't think I'm ready to take on that role just yet. The time line is looking good for me for right now. It's hard to believe that I am coming up on my six month anniversary with the company already. It seems almost like yesterday that I arrived in San Francisco. Time is certainly flying.

I guess that's all for now. I hope everyone out there in LJ land is doing well. I'm truly going to try to be on here a bit more. I feel very out of touch.
