Lennie gave him a warning look, but Mike wasn't about to refrain from flirting with the doctor with the very low-cut blouse whose name he couldn’t remember. She was completely ignoring his attempts, though, and that was just weird.
“You can try talking to Dr. House,” she was saying. “He’s in infectious diseases, on the fourth floor.”
“Or,” a man interrupted, “he’s right here.”
The woman rolled her eyes at Mike and Lennie, but Mike thought it seemed more for show than anything else. She turned to the guy-tall, curly hair, blue eyes-and didn’t smile at him. “House, these are Detectives Briscoe and Log-”
“Why should they try talking to me?” he interrupted again. Mike hadn’t even talked to the guy, and he was already rubbing him the wrong way.
She glared at him. “Because you saw Alan Gomez in the clinic before I did.”
“And the name is supposed to mean something to me?”
The woman rattled off something that Mike didn’t follow, and apparently didn’t impress the other doctor. Dr. House turned to the detectives. “There’s this thing, maybe you’ve heard of it, called doctor-patient confidentiality. Even if I do remember Adam-”
“Alan.”
“Whatever, I wouldn’t talk to you.”
“We could get a subpoena,” Lennie informed him.
“And you’re from New York, based on that accent. Good luck getting one that applies in Jersey.” He turned away, then paused. “Cuddy, we’re still on for tonight?”
“Only if you want Stacy to castrate you,” Dr. Cuddy replied dryly.
“She’ll be there. Even more fun.” Dr. House left without another word.
“He always like that?” Mike asked curiously.
“The inappropriate comments, or the refusal to cooperate?”
“Either.”
“Yes.” Dr. Cuddy shrugged. “But he’s a damn good doctor.”
