Photo Update Again, 16 months or so.

Sleep, what even is it.
Mr4 as much at fault as Ms1 at the moment, he's been getting into my bed in the early hours of the morning then wriggling around restlessly.

I should do a proper 16 month post for herself, but sleep may be more important.
Shortly after the last post tooth 11 appeared in the top right. Don't think we have the bottom one yet, but she bites my finger rather hard when I try to check.

Ms1 has started in childcare as of August 9th. Two full days a week, which allows me to coach a couple of after-school classes and start catching up on the long to-do list.

It has been rather easier than with Mr4. Partly because she is more social than him, partly because it turns out I desperately needed a bit of quiet time to myself, but mostly because she still has only 2 volume settings - 1 and 11. Since the screaming is the same regardless of whether the problem is being denied a biscuit or being left at childcare, I've learned to tune it out.

Aside from time to work, my other hopes for childcare are that it will improve her daytime napping (which it is), and tire her out, with the combination working to improve the night sleep (definitely tired, might be sleeping better? Mostly on 1 waking a night now).

She seems to be doing the same 16-month clingy phase that Mr4 did. And throwing some pretty impressive short tantrums that have me fearing the worst when she's a bit older.

Grandma came to visit and babysit recently, much adored by her grandkids. Here Mr4 tries on her reading glasses.

Meanwhile, Ms1 is running about with great proficiency, climbing up and down from places such as the sofa, and beginning to tackle small stairs. Oh, and she is wearing size 2 clothes now. And eating All The Food. Her dinner, her brother's dinner, some of mine, and then possibly dessert.

Apparently chalk doesn't taste as good as it looks. Doesn't wash off from the new dress Grandma bought as easily as you'd expect either.
She seems to know both cat's names, and be able to tell them apart. Here she is pointing out Ella-cat to me, and this morning she pointed behind me with a fairly clear "Abby there" comment. Sure enough, when I turned to look Abby-cat was sitting on the windowsill.

The warmer weather recently (21C!) has triggered a desire for outdoor time and spontaneous walks. Here she is waving and saying hello to the birds at a nearby feeder, and then cheekily refusing to follow me home. "No mum, I want to go back this way again."

Playing with a blanket the other day, she was draping it around herself in all sorts of cute ways, but most of my photo attempts were out of focus.
The blanket was also used as bedding for her doll, my old one, which she seems to have decisively adopted. Clothes are evil, I get soundly told off anytime I attempt to dress the doll, but putting the blanket on and off, over and under her was a game that held her attention for ages. Dolly nearly got a bath as well, but I intervened as I was suddenly unsure how well the new hair would cope with it.

Ok, there could be a certain amount of family resemblance I suppose...

Mr4 builds increasingly imaginative, and more soundly engineered structures. Most of the time they are train stations. This one also serves sausages from a sausage sizzle.
