Still Alive

It's been a while... where to begin...

The render is done! Photos to follow shortly. Eventually they managed to show up for several consecutive days and actually finish the job. Then I called them back to collect their rubbish. We asked them outright at one stage if they usually worked on construction sites, they were quick to say they did all sorts of jobs but I remain unconvinced. They did at least realise pretty quickly that assuming "The Site" would dispose of the rubbish wasn't going to work in this case.

So yay, I get to relax. Except suddenly everything is happening all at once.

Work is requiring some unsociable hours from me, which really seems to knock me around mentally. I've never really coped well with disrupted sleep, and it seems to be worse these days.

Old school friend is in town and will be staying with us tomorrow night. Dumplings for dinner!

Only 3 weeks or something until Discworld. I'm frantically putting together the philosophy panel that I meant to finish by Feb at the latest.
We're planning to leave the kittens at a nearby cattery while we're away. I was fine with this right up until we went and inspected the place. Now I feel awful and like I'm sending my little kittens to prison.

Gardening has been done, much pruning and mulching for the most part. The back corner is actually accessible again, which meant the compost bin finally got turned. It's looking good so far.

Fencing... I'm a bit ambivalent about. My beginners are wonderful and progressing well, reminding me why I enjoy coaching beginners so much. But, we're still not meeting costs, we need more people. Furthermore, I've got lots of people with ideas for stuff we can/should be doing. It's nice that people want us to be a big fencing presence and do lots of things that major fencing clubs do, but, one coach with a day-job and a handful of mostly novice members can't actually do that much. We need time to grow, and having to manage expectations in a catch-22 situation can get very frustrating.
We're giving a public demo at the Ringwood Highland Games soon though, so we're working on it. 12pm-1pm April 10th for anyone planning to be there.

Car is getting a new muffler fitted on Wednesday. UltraTune people described the current one as "cactus", which I gather is a technical term. Being a Renault, this isn't cheap, but it will at least sound better after that. Also thinking of getting it detailed before the long drive to Sydney, work is going to owe me a day off next week.

Edit: Oh, and apparently we're having people over for games this Saturday. But we've been a bit disorganised with actually inviting people, so if you want to come please do ask us for details.
