Brief Update

Let's see...

Work is busy. It was my turn to work on Saturday, which I'd normally complain about but the extra money will be useful right now so I don't even mind that things ran overtime. Again. As always.

Once that was done, David and I set out to inspect potential kitchen handles, the went shopping for Lego storage solutions. (These will allow him to sort out his Lego, and have a slightly better chance of getting it out of the way for the window installation).
While David busied himself moving Lego into it's new homes, I spent quality time shooting things on the Wii. A sudden power failure tested our memory on where torches were currently located.

Valentines Day saw David head out for more Lego storage, and a visit to the local Lego user group. I did a little garden tidying, moved more stuff away from windows, then more Wii shooting. Knocked out a couple of David's high scores so it was a weekend well spent.
As concession to the date we shared some very nice steaks and pear cider for dinner. Then David returned to his Lego, and I mostly flaked out in front of the TV for the evening.

Out in the garden, finally some success (sort of). Harvested my first tomato, and there are plenty more that have set. Ironically, the only reason I planted them was because I got the seeds for free, and so far they've outperformed everything else. They're cherry tomatoes which I'm not so keen on, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them.
Flooded pot was emptied out and drainage solution attempted. This required harvesting the carrots, which were supposed to be baby-carrots, but appear to be micro-carrots. Perfectly formed but only 1cm long. Probably the regular flooding didn't agree with them.
Corn is setting, but looks suspiciously small as well, and I'm pretty sure the cobs weren't supposed to be dwarf, only the plant height.
Potatoes have mostly died without flowering. Not sure if it's worth trying to dig them up or not. I didn't know it was possible to fail at potatoes.
Pumpkin is mostly looking ok and has produced it's first flower. Rouge pumpkin in the compost heap looks great but no flowers yet. At this stage I'll be happy if I can harvest one pumpkin.
The basil has finally started to grow, probably because it knows I now have some frozen inside and so won't bother it.
Not convinced at this stage that any of the other surviving plants will manage to produce anything. No longer sure what half of them are, anyway.
