It's easy. When religion is allowed to dictate what goes on in a state instutition (I.E. Public school). Now, private schools, you obviously can't help that much, since they can pretty much do whatever the hell they want. Parents are paying to send their kids there and it's right that they have a say. The kids who don't have that option are stuck in public school.
I don't think a group of ANY religion has the right to dictate what goes on in a public school, education-wise. Not every kid in the public school is going to be of their religion or even follow religion at all. Even if the majority was Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc., I still don't thinkt they should have the right to dictate what is taught the minority of non-religious students. That's why it's called seperation of Church and State. (Even if previously that meant only seperation of the State from the Church, and not vice versa, that's not how the law is interpreted now.)
Public schools are just that. Public. They are funded by the state and by people living in the community. I don't think a school board packed with a certain religion should be allowed to tell you that only Creationism should be taught or that Creationism should be taught in a mainstream class. That's what church is for. If you must, pull your kid out of the class when Darwinism is being taught, but don't tell the school system that EVERY kid must learn creationism or creationism and Darwinism. Darwinism is a scientific theory that actually HAS a basis in fact, unlike Creationism.
Oops! Long rant, sorry. ^_^ Anyway, when religious groups take over the school systems, this is how that crap goes so far. Religion needs to be seperated from the public school system. Religion is for church and private schools.
