A bit if good news...

I got our renewal on our car insurance and the cards. I'm one who thinks that insurance is a rip off but a necessity so I'm stuck with it. However, upon getting our renewal I noticed our monthly payments went WAY down. Like 33% down ( Read more... )

You have passed the age 21 barrier and are married, plus you own a home. All of those could make your insurance go down, along with the age of your car.

Additionally, insurance rates go UP if you get divorced or live in a "less desirable" neighborhood.

Yeah, a lot has happened since our last renewal in January, even though we *technically* had our own home I'm just baffled that it went down so much. At the time of our last renewal we were already 22 and 23 years old, so really the only thing I can think of is that our cars are older or that we had the kid.

We get a lot of insurance discounts from the guy though, we have home, auto, and life policies there.

It makes a huge difference having your policies with one company.

I'm confused, though about your renewal in January. My auto insurance is paid 6 months at a time, but the renewal is yearly, so any additional discount we get are done during our yearly renewal. The only time we've had our insurance reduced at the 6 month mark was when we removed Ian from our policy.

I pay my car insurance monthly and get a renewal every 6 months. Every March and September unless something major happens (like when I turn 25 next month).

Well, that's what we do as well. We pay monthly, get a 6 month renewal (in December and June) but our POLICY is renewed annually in June.

My policy is renewed every six months. Any and all changes I make come at 6 month intervals. Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying. I don't know much about it except that I have the policy my parents set me up with when I turned 16 with a few addons made by me.

That's a good question, I'll take a look at our papers and find out. It was one year ago when we first got our auto policies so it could be the renewal for the year. Our insurance rate never changed over the last year.

I know we get our cards every 6 months, as for the renewal, it probably is for the year.

Yeah, we get new insurance cards every six months as well, and make monthly payments. But unless we have specific changes, our rates don't change until the yearly renewal in June.

I get it now. That's how mine is too. I think I need to learn a bit more about this stuff...soon.
