I had a very fun weekend, I just can't believe that its over already. I got to realize how well my house was made to have quite a few people in it for being a smaller home. We had 13 adults and 9 kids over yesterday for some of my sis-in-law's famous Lasagne.
We got to get a picture of 6 of the 7 Willi cousins, with only Samuel missing. It was amazing to see the whole thing take place. Knowing that my older brother's kids are sitting on my couch in my home with my son. It really began to hit me that I've gone through a major transition from a year ago, until now. I'm coming up on the one-year anniversary of the start of this whole thing: April 7th, when Cindy and I found out that we were pregnant. We weren't married, we didn't even live together, we had an idea of plans for the future, we knew that we'd eventually get married, get a house, and have a few kids and BAM! Less than a year later, here we are! It's crazy how life works.
Anywho, Cindy and I did get a chance to go out window shopping, er, looking around I should say, since we don't need any windows. We got to pick out the colors for our kitchen and we found a pretty nice flourescent light fixture to brighten up the kitchen as well. We're going with dark red almost like a maroon on the cabinet walls and a creamy, light yellow for the other two walls. We looked at a golden color, but all we could think about when we saw it was that our kitchen looked like a fast food restaurant, or that we painted our walls with ketchup and mustard. So we are opting for a lighter color.
Mom is finally looking at getting a storage shed for all their stuff, thank goodness! They can no longer pack anything else because they have nowhere in the house to put it. I'd really prefer that they get the stuff out of the storage room in the basement more than the stuff in the den. That way, we can put our stuff in the storage room and the basement won't feel so cluttered.
My parent's new house is really looking great and I wish I had some pictures to post of it. I can't believe how big its going to be. They deserve it though, they worked their arses off raising us that they finally get their first brand-new home. Amazing that they will be settled in just in time for their 30th wedding anniversary this Labor Day. Should be a great place to throw a party!
Over the weekend there were workers crawling all over the house getting the heating, cooling, & plumbing done. The electrician stopped by and got his work all done. This coming weekend my brother's company is insulating the walls. While all this work is getting done on the house, I still have a feeling that they won't be done until mid-May.
It's a not-so-busy day at work today, but I do have paperwork to get done, so I'll have at it.
