The Oprah Limit

Recently I read a couple of article which complained that too many people are running in marathons. (article 1, article 2)

The second one (kind of) blamed Oprah Winfrey for this liberalizing trend that made everyone think they could run a marathon.

So I was curious as to how Oprah stacked up in the field of "celebrity" marathon runners:

While i think it is good people are exercising, running long distances is really not what most people's bodies can take, particularly if they are training on the sidewalk a lot. I guess what the article writers don't like is that you are not meant to jog a marathon - it is a *race*, you should be *running* (i think any time over 4 hours would have to be a jog?). But people like these big famous events, they are fun i guess. Hopefully they raise money for something?

I was totally amused by how much Oprah owned Katie Holmes. :)
