Wow. There's a ton of people online for a Summer night. Usually, Summer means fewer people online. Weird.
So it's been a few weeks. Actually, exactly three. Since we last spoke, I've left Tallahasse for ten days, came back, started classes, and laid down tracks for an album. Busy three weeks, no?
At the moment, I'm procrastinating on homework.
Finals went pretty good. Got out of the Armpit on Thursday of finals week and headed to Grandad's. Spent the night, did laundry, and headed out Friday for Pen Fla FAF in Orlando. Got there and it was an absolute circus. I spent a few hours, saw some people , saw some acts, and headed for Brandon. I was supposed to stay with Josh overnight in Orlando, but I had already seen all I wanted to, so I rolled out early. Spent from Friday afternoon/evening till Thursday morning in Brandon, which was cool. Saw pretty much everyone I wanted to. Saw Sever and played along w/ jazz band for a period. Then Thursday morning, headed back to Grandad's. Hung out there till Monday. Had a very relaxing birthday. The only real thing I did that day was to go to Outback. Also got a 30Gig video iPod for my birthday.
Once I got back up here Monday, I started classes the next day. My classes are pretty good. Nothing too terrible. Quick rundown, for those who care:
Bio - Not horrible, not great
Bio Lab - See above
Music Lit - Pretty decent. Lotta work in a 6-week period, but after that I don't have class till 12:30 for second half of the summer
Choir Tech - Pretty cool. Made better by Dr. VanWeelden
University Chorale - Been a while since I sang, and I wish it was jazz choir, but not bad. See above.
Summer Band - Pretty cool. Three concerts in six weeks. Reminds me of high school jazz band.
Quick shameless plug: Those of you still inhabiting the Armpit, come see Summer Band Thursday night at the Owen Sellers Ampitheatre, behind the College of Music. Music by John Williams, John Phillip Sousa, Ray Charles, and Dmitri Shostakovich. If you don't know where it is, let me know, and I'll direct you.
In other good news, I got Asst. Section Leader for Screech! I'm so freaking excited! And Beesting got Staff! And Joel's continuing on the second-year row leader tradition that Katie started and passed on to me and I've passed on to Joel.
I was worried about my summer roommates, cause their Facebook profiles didn't look like people I'd deal to well with, but one never showed up, and the other lives across the apt from me, and I've barely seen him, so it's cool.
Saturday, the Christian band I play drums in, Separate Peace (
http://myspace.com/separatepeaceband) drove up to Thomasville to lay down tracks for our album. We were there for 11 hours, and laid down all the drums and rhythm guitar, along with most of the lead and bass guitars. They've gotta go do some patches, and we gotta put in some vocals and keys, and then mix it, and the disc'll be out. I'll keep you up to date as we progress. But it's good material and a pretty good group of guys, so it should sound good. Heck it already does sound pretty good, and once we get it finished, I expect it to sound really good.
Quick sports update. The Marlins, who were 5-12 at last update, have kept up that pace, and are currently 11-25. It's not even June and I've almost given up hope already. Not a good sign. The Dolphins had a pretty good draft, and have signed undrafted rookie Marcus Vick to a contract. That worries me a little, what with his history, but we'll see how that goes, I guess.
The big sports story right now is the NBA. In the Western Conference, the Suns came back from down 3-1 in their opening round series against the Lakers to earn a berth in the Conference Semis against the Clippers of L.A., while the Spurs and Mavs won their respective series fairly easily. Currently, the Spurs are down 3-1 to Dallas, with game 5 tomorrow night in San Antonio, and the Clips and Phoenix are tied at 2-2, with game 5 going on as we speak.
In the Eastern Conference, the Cavs won a hard-fought six-game series over Washington to earn the right to play Detroit in the semis, which most predicted would go to the Pistons in an easy series, going five games at most. The first two games followed that script, with Detroit beating the crap out of Cleveland in games 1-2. Then the series went back to Ohio, were Cleveland took game 3. Then Sheed upped the ante by guaranteeing a Detroit win in game 4. Unfortunately for him, Cleveland had other ideas, and tied up the series at 2-2, with game 5 tomorrow in Detroit. Hopefully, this goes seven with Cleveland winning, cause that gives Miami maximum rest time and a series against a team we went 2-2 against in the regular season, as opposed to 1-3 versus Detroit. After being up 2-0 against Chicago, Miami lost two straight in Chicago, and it wasn't looking two good. Then in game 5, Miami took a close one in SoFla, followed by a 30-point, 20-rebound effort by Shaq in game 6 to put it away. Then against the Nets in the conference semis, the Heat layed an egg in game one at home, getting shellacked, but followed it up by destroying New Jersey in game 2 in Miami, then going up to Jersey and winning two games by more than 10 points each to return to Miami up 3-1. Then tonight, we won by a single point to earn our second straight berth in the Eastern Conference Finals against either Detroit or Cleveland.
Ok, now it's time for the link. Read this, check the pics, and click the link and watch the video:
Car on Fire
http://blog.myspace.com/wordtourmamma That sucks, but it's kinda funny.
Ok, I have homework to do, I guess. Have a good one, and remember, cottage cheese doesn't come in a milk carton.
