It's over already

This weekend didn't last long enough, they never do.

Saturday was a lazy day. My Aunt and my 3 year old cousin, Emma, came to visit. Emma and I sunbathed in the backyard and picked apart Camellia blooms and giggled while the dogs ran around us. The simple things that amused her make me smile - I wish I was still like that. Nowadays, I don't smile or laugh openly because the things I find funny/entertaining, other people find odd and that just makes me look weird. I know I shouldn't care what other people thing of me or the things I like, but it's horridly awkward to be told your strange to your face. I mean, what do you say to that? Is that even a compliment....? In any case, this weekend was relaxing.

Today, my family drove up-state to see my Grandmother for her birthday. She has an old country house with squeaky floorboards and wooden ceilings. Where she lives nearly everyone has a ATV (four-wheeler) and an old rusted automobile of some kind on their land. We have bear-crossing signs on road. Me and my little sis drove up together, jamming out to music the whole way up. My voice is bit  hoarse from all the singing we did. Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers (Californitation), Bonobo, Fleet Foxes, Linkin' Park, Death Cab for Cutie, Maroon Five to name a few. After lunch and the traditional nap, my parents, my sister and I went to the Tombigbee River and just chilled out, chunking loose rocks into the river. Sam (little sis) collected beer caps from the area and we compared and determined what was the obvious favorite beverage of the area: Bud Light, of course. We returned and I sunbathed some more, closing my eyes and imagining that wind in the trees was actually waves breaking on the shore. I could almost smell the ocean in the air, almost. I'm ready for a vacation to the beach, it's been year since me and my sister went.

*sigh*

Another 6 days of work. I'm looking forward to it... really.

Cheers, guys.

rant, personal
