My spirooli slicer came in! And. It is WAY cooler than the mandoline, although they're both going to be incredibly useful.
Steve spent two nights grimacing doubtfully at the box and looking at me like this purchase really wasn't necessary. When I opened it and got the gadget ready to use I thought his eyes were going to roll out of his head. It was funny watching the expression on his face change so suddenly from smug to child-like delight. I admit it was pretty cool to watch the thing transform an entire vegetable in almost no time.
I made a surprisingly convincing bowl of "pasta" out of a large zucchini tonight. Again, it's beyond tasty if you happen to pop it in the microwave with your favorite sauce for two minutes. I see this working out awesomely with eggplant... maybe carrots too? The whole thing sounds questionable at first, but my meat and bread-loving guinea-spouse cleaned his dish!

Mine didn't come with instructions, but it was easy to figure out. All my prepwork started and finished in under five minutes, including cleaning. I'm totally whipping this thing back out to make lunch tomorrow.
