Just a few samples, in case anyone would like to commission in exchange for donations to some of the causes I would like to help support ;;!

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! I don't have a going rate - since it's for charity, I just figure, well - give as much as you can / want to at a particular time /o.

Size/dpi isn't the big issue, as much as is blurring or overly pixelation.

I tend to go with something slightly realistic, but I can just look to see what the art lends itself to. May I have a sample image?

( ...is this Akagi... )

OH - please don't crop, if you can! I tend to get a bit picky about it / more comfortable doing it on my own XD!

Ahhhh, Akagi is a shounen series with really pointy chins and cheekbones XD!

Those aren't that sharp / bad! Lend me a sample image of the character you had in mind + some colouring instructions/references, so I can try my hand /o/

It must be an eljay setting of some kind! But all good, I caught the notif. I'll try my hand once I'm home, see how it works. I can generally do an icon/5 minutes, once I have my palette, but I really want to see if I can work with the style first, because I might be unable to. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes the art style and my colouring one really don't mesh, and I don't want to hand over substandard quality.

Payment at the end, and you should just donate to something yourself - I'm usually sympathetic towards charities that help children, but if you have a cause you're more particular to, that works.

Haha, I don't think I could offer to do icons if it weren't fast, my attention span is minimal. Tho I would take 2 days for 15, probably, since I don't like to sit down and do them in one go.

If you trust it, it works, don't fret it. If you prefer alternatives, spend 2h volunteering for an animal hospital/group, works too.

Not sure what to tell you -

Straight off the bat, images wherein the art lines are very thick don't work out:

I actually don't (the icon makers I know closely aren't taking commissions right now that I'm aware of o.o!)

Uhmmmmm as a general guideline - maybe look for people who've worked with recent mangastream scans (so stuff like dgm, bleach), or with CLAMP releases -- those tend to have very thick lines too, so the icon makers for them would be more used to dealing with this kind of thing.

Luck!
