Blast from the past

So, I've been clearing old files off my work hard drive recently and have come across a handful of half-written ficlets, mostly TL based. Although they relate to old campaigns and such, I thought I'd post them up for posterity.

Some 'diary' entries from Vixen, my tarantraal monster role
We are the Wild Hunt! We are the Ever Victorious Army of the Glorious Tarantraal Empire!

We are proud and honoured to serve Commander Drake.

No surrender, no retreat. We will never be defeated.

Vixen - 4/12/11

We finally catch up with them back at the seafront.

my heart in my mouth as Stone faces their leader. We have so little information on them.

Stone disengages - part of me wants to send Scale straight over to heal him but we will not show them any weakness

Raven sends their foolish friend back to them and their shocked cries raise a smile - now they see who they are dealing with.

They form an attempt at a line as Stone orders us to attack. The first salvo - Raven's massed fears - break them and they scatter. There is no attempt from their leader to give orders, to form them back up. Tyto blinds those who have stood their ground and they are no threat.

I exchange a few blows with one of their warriors - he looks surprised as I sneer at him "Pathetic. Is that the best you can do?"

We reform and Stone gets Raven to dispel his fear as this fight is becoming too much of an embarrassment. How can these creatures dare face us?

One of their leaders has pulled a few of them into a small group and pushes towards us, to reclaim the bodies of their fallen. At least one of them has some spirit. Omega laughs as he forces them to crawl.

Vixen - 20/2/12

We arrive at the Shift Site and they are still in view but run for the forest of mirrors at the sight of us. The boys run ahead to catch them up and engage. By the time we rejoin them they have discover some effect of the plane prevents us from doing damage to each other.

We scout the area, encountering a few of the plane's denizons, and decide to let them get the heart of the avatar (or die trying) and claim it from their survivors as they try to return to the shift site.

Corporal Stone, Spike and I scout them out and are reasonably sure they got the heart. I spot the green-coated male who tried to restore order to their rabble on Hanou Epe. He is one of at least two archers. I don't get an exact head count but they definitely outnumber us - still we have superior training and organisation.

They spot us and decide to try and find a way through which doesn't double back the way they came (and we are waiting). Stone and Spike head back to met with the others and try and cut them off. I follow them at a short distance and am reminded why they cannot beat us as they have made no effort to have any kind of backstop or rear guard.

Homecoming - post-Blackgate campaign
Liana's POV
The boys in bed, she is tidying the kitchen when there is a knock on the door. Who can it be calling this late? She turns as the door opens and her daughter, gone for nearly a year, stands there in the doorway. She looks at her with a mother's eyes - notices the thinness, the dark shadows under her eyes, the tension even now in her stance. Then she has crossed the space between them and with Ana in her arms it is as though she had never been away.

Ana's POV
It takes a while for her to convince Mama it is really her and that she is well. It is Cuthalion's insistence that he wants a "Ana hug" too that finally persuades Liana to release her tight grip as though she thinks Ana will disappear again.
