In other news, I'm actually really happy how good of a friend Tina is being to Bette right now. I hadn't thought of it until re-watching 505 last night.
With mention to all of this "Are you still in love with Jodi? Do you still love Jodi" -business, I can completely understand why Tina is asking Bette these questions. She's asking them as a friend and a 3rd party. She's not asking them from Tina, Bette's ex with whom they both have mutual feelings. I think it's easy to misunderstand and assume Tina is being passive or wishy washy but that's totally not the case. Tina is being a super supportive friend for Bette right now. She picks up every call, she answers all of Bette's questions of what to do with Jodi.
Since Bette seems to be utterly confused as to what she should do - Tina is there to bounce ideas off of. Tina asking Bette if she loves Jodi isn't meant to be a literal interpretation of the question. It's merely rewinding and replaying where Bette *says she is* any time Tina feels that she and Bette are about to cross the "inappropriate behavior" line. Tina has been able to put aside her own feelings to be a great friend to Bette.
The only reason I can say this is because this is exactly what happened to me. I ended a long term relationship then this other girl came into the picture and both threw me for a loop. I had a friend who was there for me and selflessly did everything she could to help me through my darkest days. She had a crush on me and began falling in love with me but put herself and her feelings aside to be there for me. She was willing to sacrifice the potential of being in a relationship with me in order to have our friendship. Well fast forward a few months, we got together when I realized I was completely in love with her, and we'll be celebrating our 4 year relationship in May. And we've gotten engaged.
With all of these traits Tina is showing right now, it's going to be ON between those two.......
